I Got Lucky After Signing the Contract

Ruan Yu seems to have been born unlucky.

After he was born, his family's once-prosperous business took a sharp downturn. His father grew short-tempered and started beating his mother and little Ruan Yu.

When Ruan Yu was fifteen, the factory went bankrupt, and he lost his father too.

Later, his mother remarried. They didn't enjoy even two peaceful years before his stepfather passed away. They had no way to pay for his mother's medical bills or his tuition, and were left with a mountain of debt.

This time, even his mother blamed him for being a jinx.

Ruan Yu thought he was a jinx too.

He started working three jobs at once, but the money he made was nowhere near enough to cover their enormous expenses.

When another overdue medical bill landed in his hands, Ruan Yu finally made up his mind and signed a contract offered to him by a certain man.

Huo Yanchi is the person in charge of his company. Recently, he noticed a young man who kept showing up in front of him.

At the convenience store, in bars, even when he went to play pool, there the boy was.

He had his assistant deliver a contract to Ruan Yu, only for Ruan Yu to throw it in the trash.

Okay, he'd just misread the situation.

Whether it was playing hard to get or forcing someone into something, Huo Yanchi had no interest in those games.

Later, Ruan Yu showed up with the crumpled contract and asked him if it was still valid.

Huo Yanchi found it amusing. So it really had been a game of playing hard to get.

The two began a relationship under the terms of the contract.

Ruan Yu believed that growing up meant constantly losing things. By now, he had nothing left to lose except his dignity.

He thought that signing his name would cost him his last shred of dignity. He never expected to find not endless humiliation, but the affection he had longed for.

Huo Yanchi thought this would go like all the others. After three months at most, he'd move on to someone else.

But this time, he was the one who couldn't bring himself to end the contract.
