The Tyrannical General and His Foolish Robot Butler

Ruan Nian has just finished his college entrance exams. Clutching his admission letter and full of hope, he boards a green train from a remote mountain village, bound for the capital's university.

The journey is long, so he falls asleep on the train. When he opens his eyes again, he finds himself standing in a villa with a huge garden. A gloomy-looking man stares at him with a terrifying expression!

Even worse, his joints have turned into ball joints!

The man takes him into the lavishly decorated villa and tells him to grind some coffee.

Ruan Nian is at a loss. What does it mean to grind coffee? All he knows how to do is feed chickens and ducks, herd cattle, and work on exam papers. He can boil water, though. Would drinking more hot water do?

Lu Shitang's political rival sends him a robot butler. He refuses to accept it, but to keep up appearances and maintain the peace, he takes it in.

Since the robot came from his political rival, Lu Shitang considers it a potential threat and keeps it under constant watch.

But he soon discovers that this robot butler has a top-of-the-line face and nothing else: it's as clumsy as a knockoff. It can't grind coffee or tend the garden, it needs a nap at noon and goes to bed on time every night. Its routine is more human than his, and it asks all sorts of odd questions every day.

And you can't criticize it, or it'll burst into tears.

Wait, can robots cry?

Even more absurdly, this idiot robot eventually tells him it wants to go to college?

Later, Lu Shitang gradually begins to suspect that this idiot robot butler is some new technology developed by his political rival, designed to make people fall for robots and then obey their every command.

A sweet little story
