Yu Pianhong finds himself in the underworld as the White Impermanence. There, he comes across his boyfriend, who died young and has lost his memories. He livestreams his way through the underworld, embracing the grind all along. Just as he is about to be promoted from White Impermanence to City God, he vanishes from the livestreaming world.
After becoming City God, Yu Pianhong takes one look at the underworld's decrepit state and, on a whim, launches a series of reforms. The happiness index for underworld residents shoots up.
Recently, a new City God has taken office in the underworld. All the ghosts know he is a good City God, but no one knows who he is. On a forum thread, some of Yu Pianhong's former fans begin to suspect that the City God is Yu Pianhong, the White Impermanence.
The ghosts look it up online, then all shake their heads.
The ghosts: Yu Pianhong is pretty good, but he's not qualified!
Fans: He absolutely is!
Later, at the City God's urging, the underworld develops a livestream tourism industry.
One day, a dark livestream room lights up. Inside is Yu Pianhong, who has been gone for a long time. In response to the earlier speculation thread, Yu Pianhong publicly states that he is not the new City God.
The ghosts lift their chins: I told you so!
Fans: That provocative attitude is so annoying!
Later, evil ghosts bent on revenge join forces to attack the underworld. Just when all the ghosts are at a loss, they see Yu Pianhong, who was explaining the underworld's architecture on livestream a moment ago. The next instant, his robe flutters though there is no wind, and its hem turns red as if stained with blood. Waves crest across the robe, and a golden dragon with four claws appears upon it.
Clad in his ceremonial robe, Yu Pianhong fixes the enemy with a piercing gaze. A scroll, one chi long, appears in his hand. As he unfurls it, a flood of golden light fills the sky, annihilating every evil creature.
He steps into the air and faces the evildoers from afar.
The fans are stunned. The ghosts are stunned too.
The ghosts: ...City God Yu, we were blind!
