Small-town story / redemption / second chance at love

Bastard stray dog vs. unruly girl

A midsummer day in August, in a small mountain town.

Shang Nanxing met a stray dog.

The boy marched to his own beat, with a roguish air about him. He was openly bad news.

Shang Nanxing could have stayed away from him, but instead she drew closer and closer.

Then, after plotting it for a long time, she put more and more distance between them.

Later, Shang Nanxing returned to the town and ran into Chen Yan again.

He was still as much of a bastard as ever.

The young man was no longer a boy. A red ember glowed between his fingers. When he raised his eyes, they blazed with fury, and he looked at her with nothing but scorn.

That year, someone saw Chen Yan get dumped by a young woman.

After she left, he chased after her for three thousand miles. When he came back, he looked like he had already died once.

No one knew that when he caught up with her, he saw Shang Nanxing standing beside a well-to-do man, her hand resting in the crook of his arm.

He remembered what she had once said: "Chen Yan, if I treat you badly, will you hate me?"

Chen Yan locked an arm around her neck and forced her to look at him. His gaze was full of mockery.

"Shang Nanxing, if you dare, I'll fuck you till you can't take it!"

And she really dared.

But he couldn't bring himself to do it.
