Falling in the Wind

Ling Yunwan had always been cautious and meek. She married in her stepsister's place, becoming the wife of the unruly young lord of the Duke's estate.

Everyone in the Wei household knew she was a substitute bride, but they chose to let the mistake stand. They had unexpectedly discovered that Ling Yunwan looked a great deal like Wei Lang's deceased first love.

To win Wei Lang back, her mother-in-law demanded that Ling Yunwan imitate that first love, matching her every expression and smile.

Wei Lang had long known that the woman before him was timid and weak, always eager to please. He had also believed she would depend on him for the rest of her life.

Until the day she dropped the act and began meeting every day with her lover, who had returned from the dead. Seeing how much the man's features resembled his own, Wei Lang finally learned the truth.

He went mad and pulled her into his arms. "Ling Yunwan, do you even know who I am?"

That night, red candles burned in the warm bed curtains, and music played until dawn.

Unable to endure his madness any longer, Ling Yunwan decided to gather all her belongings and flee.

Later, as she traveled south, bandits and outlaws roamed the roads. A chivalrous hero suddenly appeared and rescued her from danger. He said he had been burned in the face when he was young, and had worn a mask ever since.

By chance, she removed his mask and fell to the ground in fright.

She feared the man before her would grab her chin as he had before and ask in a sinister voice, "Run, then, Ling Yunwan! Let's see how far you can get!"

But this time, he didn't.

He only leaned closer, gently ruffling the crown of her head, and asked softly, "Awan, do I look like him?"

A two-faced, secretly unhinged man x a sweet-looking woman who's really a dark-hearted schemer
