Rekindled romance / mutual salvation / city life interspersed with school days / bittersweet pursuit
[Coming soon] The blurb for "Limited-Time Newlyweds" is below.
[Refined, aloof doctor x silly, sweet author]
[Cool, untamed, beautiful and tragic heroine x avoidant attachment]
In high school, Shi Yuanmo was unremarkable. The one time she summoned the courage to do something bold, she asked Chen Chaoyu to sit beside her.
Chen Chaoyu was handsome and brilliant, but taciturn and indifferent to everything. He was the perfect seatmate to help Shi Yuan focus on her studies.
They maintained a carefully measured politeness and an ordinary classmate relationship.
At least, that was how it looked on the surface.
Later, in a pitch-black, empty classroom.
A backpack strap slipped a little off her shoulder, and in the silence, her heartbeat seemed to grow louder by the second.
Their touches were almost imperceptible, and the distance between them closed naturally. The boy's face, hidden in the gloom, gradually came into focus. He was unhappy with how she had been avoiding him and keeping her distance lately.
"Shi Yuan, what are you afraid of?"
*
After four years of loving him from afar, Shi Yuan watched Chen Chaoyu leave her behind and go abroad without a word.
Fine, then.
She ended things unilaterally, took off the ring on her finger, and threw it into the fountain at the medical school.
They met again at a hospital.
Shi Yuan was a failed author with nothing going for her but her looks. She shot to fame by turning her ex into the star of a melodramatic novel, then overdid the late nights and landed in the emergency room.
The doctor examining her wore a mask. The only things she could see were his eyes behind gold-rimmed glasses, cool and indifferent, with a faint hint of teasing.
The stethoscope had just touched her chest when a nurse outside called, "Dr. Chen."
Shi Yuan froze, her face paling as he drawled,
"Nothing serious. Just a rapid heartbeat."
He took off the stethoscope and looked down at her, his tone distant.
"Shi Yuan, what are you afraid of?"
*
Shi Yuan thought he had completely forgotten their past, until one damp winter night, when Chen Chaoyu, drenched from head to toe, knocked on her door.
In the narrow, dim stairwell, he pinned her against the wall. His lips were cold, but the hand gripping her waist was burning hot.
His voice by her ear was husky and intimate, his words sharpened with a warning: "Who else has kissed you like this besides me?"
Shi Yuan would never know that someone had stubbornly soaked in cold water all night, searching for a ring that had never existed.
"I don't need any other reason. Just having you here is enough to make my heart race."
Reader's guide:
1. One-on-one romance, both leads' first love, HE. They reunite at the beginning, with school days shown in flashbacks.
2. Thanks to Dr. Chen's vivid imagination, he will make up a second, third, and fourth male lead.
3. This is basically a story about the heroine going off the rails while her ex-husband mistakes it for a hint and immediately returns to wage a campaign to win her back.
4. The male lead has a slight smoking habit for plot reasons. Good kids, don't imitate him!

"Limited-Time Newlyweds"
Pregnancy before love / enemies-to-lovers / flirtatious push and pull with a nemesis / all sweetness, no angst
[Cultural heritage preservation x powerful Beijing family leader]
[Fiery, dramatic beauty x arrogant, aloof CEO who overthinks himself into falling in love]
Qi Jiamao never imagined that she would one day be tied to Yan Zhiming for such a ridiculous reason.
Yes, after one night together, they were having a child.
Staring at the unmistakable two lines on the pregnancy test, she immediately booked an appointment with an obstetrician.
After all, who would want to have a child with their sworn enemy, the person they were always at odds with?
Qi Jiamao went to the hospital in disguise, hiding it from everyone. But just as she came out of the exam room with her test results, she ran straight into Yan Zhiming.
The cool, dignified man narrowed his eyes slightly and casually offered his worthless concern: "Terminal illness?"
His words left Qi Jiamao speechless. For the second time in her life, she felt an impulse to act without thinking through the consequences. She decided to throw a wrench into Yan Zhiming's perfect life.
"Yes. It's a matter of life and death."
She slapped the test results against Yan Zhiming and watched a tiny, irreparable crack appear in his composed facade. She couldn't hide her gloating smile.
Qi Jiamao went home feeling great. She never expected Yan Zhiming to issue a joint statement with the Qi Group just three hours later, announcing their engagement.
She lost her composure and rushed into the living room to question her father. "Is our family going bankrupt?"
Otherwise, why would they sell her off to Yan Zhiming?
Her father, poring over a betrothal gift list hundreds of pages long, cheerfully replied, "I think the Yan family might be going bankrupt."
Unable to withstand the pressure and inducements, Qi Jiamao was forced to move in with Yan Zhiming.
She tried every way she could think of to make him call off the engagement.
Yan Zhiming was a neat freak. When morning sickness hit, she deliberately threw up all over him. All he did was stand up and say stiffly, "I'm going to take a shower."
Yan Zhiming was a CEO, busy with work and out early and home late. She slept through the day and couldn't sleep at night, so at midnight she made him drive to a nearby city to buy pastries from her favorite artisan bakery.
He returned just before dawn, faint dark circles already under his eyes.
"Satisfied?"
Qi Jiamao nodded, then broke the pastries into pieces and fed them to the cat. She still complained, "They're too sweet. If you want us both dead, just say so."
Yan Zhiming put up with all of it, one thing after another. Qi Jiamao grew more and more baffled, and when he massaged her calves, she finally lost patience and kicked him off the bed.
"Yan Zhiming! Are you made of wood? Don't you have any reaction at all?"
The CEO, ruthless in public, was leaning against the bed with his ears unusually red.
Qi Jiamao heard him mutter, "Even if I did, I can't do anything. You're in your first trimester..."
Theme: Make the most of the present
I really love every time the author calls back.
Hey, won't there be a follow-up?
So there will be no updates.
Didn't the teacher say it will be updated on the 25th?
Teacher, I am still waiting hard.
Teacher, are you still here? Woohoo!
I have already completed the college entrance examination. Is there any follow-up yet?
It's been 6 months, why haven't there been any follow-ups yet?
Isn't it over yet, teacher???
Wuwuwu ended at the place you most wanted to see?
