The Abandoned Heroine

Blurb: [A little mystery. The author's unhinged, unfiltered kink: looping playthroughs, with affection levels that accumulate] [Entirely in first person, extremely melodramatic, full of old-school tropes. The heroine has a rough time early on] I used to be the heroine of a popular, outrageously melodramatic romance game. Aside from my pretty face, I was utterly useless. I obediently stayed in a mansion, living a carefree life with everything provided for me and doted on by the male leads. I was perfectly content. But the game didn't get much attention during its beta test, and the author considered creating a new heroine. The new girl was smart, independent, and capable, and more worthy of being loved. My heroine's halo faded, and I was returned to my original form. Overnight, I fell from the clouds into the dirt. The male leads who had once loved me completely forgot about me and went after the new heroine. Even when I secretly ran away, no one cared. The game became a hit after its official release. Every player praised the heroine's personality and the romances the game created between her and each of the male leads. Everyone forgot about me. I became just another background NPC in the game. For two years, my boyfriend, a fellow nobody, and I prepared to get married. That day, while working at a luxury boutique, I happened to run into the rich young men who had once pursued me. I felt perfectly calm and silently bowed to them along with the other employees. That evening, one of the young men was in a car accident and close to death. But the person who hit him... was my boyfriend of many years. I suddenly realized: From the day he chose to come see me, this game had been heading in a direction I never could have expected. [Blurb dated 2024.2.27, saved] Content warnings: 1. First-person narration, looping playthroughs, and a light mystery in which affection levels gradually accumulate. 2. As soon as the male leads deviate from their game settings, the game world immediately resets. 3. The heroine is an exceptionally beautiful, delicate woman, but she's also very strong. She has aphasia at first and can communicate through writing, but cannot speak. She recovers in the middle-to-late part of the story. The men are always stronger than the woman. The heroine is not a virgin, while the male leads are. The story has an intensely dark atmosphere. The male leads' low morals don't represent the author's own values. 4. The boyfriend is an unlucky sacrificial character and hasn't broken the law. The male leads who appear are all crazy and wicked, and many have unrequited feelings for the heroine. They're all complete nutcases. 5. Messy rivalry between men, including brothers turning against each other for love, close partners coming to blows over love, and clichéd you-run-and-I-chase-you plots. 6. The city and setting are fictional. Don't compare them to real life. Theme: Being a nobody all your life isn't necessarily a bad thing.
