[Formerly a confirmed bachelor: a laid-back beauty on the receiving end × a rugged, handsome man who doesn't realize he's into men]
A contrast in build | complexion | height
Lin Xiangyu never imagined that he would really get rich overnight.
Three days later, he dragged a suitcase and carried a bouquet of sunflowers back to Leju Town.
In the little town in early autumn, roosters crowed, dogs barked, and streams murmured. Lin Xiangyu's greatest wish was to lounge in a rocking chair and let the days slip by.
Unfortunately, the old house had been empty for a long time and badly needed repairs. Then Sheng Ye, whom he had met once before, showed up.
Sheng Ye owned a restaurant in town. Broad-shouldered and narrow-waisted, with rough hands and a sharply defined face that made him look a little fierce, he was surprisingly warm and welcoming.
Not only did he help Lin Xiangyu deal with the house, he even took care of all three meals every day.
From beef stir-fried with mint to rice fried with dried porcini, from fried ribs to fish in a clay pot, from sweet rice soup to grape jelly tart cake.
Step by step, Lin Xiangyu fell for more than just the food. He fell for Sheng Ye, too.
Lin Xiangyu began to panic. He had never imagined being with anyone. He even thought about backing away. Luckily, Sheng Ye remained passionate and unwavering, catching him securely every time.
One winter morning, Lin Xiangyu asked Sheng Ye to pick the last camellia in the courtyard. Holding the flower, he smiled at Sheng Ye and said, "Sheng Ye, I accept your courtship!"
[Sheng Ye's point of view]
After retiring from the military, Sheng Ye returned to his hometown and opened a restaurant. One day, when he was out, he caught a glimpse of a young man holding flowers, and his heart was thrown into disarray.
Sheng Ye didn't know what love at first sight meant. He only knew that he wanted to be closer to Lin Xiangyu, then closer still. It made him happy to see Lin Xiangyu enjoy the food he cooked, and it made him happy to see him working with such concentration.
Only later did he realize that he had fallen in love with this man. That was all there was to it.
In spring, roses climbed the walls. In midsummer, evening breezes swept across lotus ponds. In late autumn, fruit fell from the branches. In the depths of winter, snow-laden branches bore red persimmons. Four seasons, four scenes. With a cup of tea and a reclining chair, half a day could slip away.
The sky and the mood are what they are, and with nothing to do, one is as carefree as a little immortal.
A small courtyard, a lover, and a lifetime together.
[Reading Notes]
1. A slice-of-life story, gentle and slow-paced.
2. The protagonists are pure in body and heart, and it's a one-on-one romance.
A mention of my upcoming novel. Please add it to your collection!
Life in Zhuxi Village [Farming]
Also titled The Refined and Delicate Husband of a Butcher. No golden finger, a pure farming story. The character dynamics are unchanged, and the blurb will be refined further.
Xia Shi was handsome and pampered from childhood. Then his family fell into ruin, and when a villain came to his door, he drove him off with a knife and decided to find a live-in husband.
The butcher Zhou Di was one of the candidates. He said, "I'm a rough man, but your father once did me a kindness, Master Xia. If you're willing, I'll marry into your family."
Xia Shi looked at this tall, handsome man in coarse clothes stained with blood and nodded.
Before they could marry, the villain tried to ruin Xia Shi's reputation. Without a word, Zhou Di grabbed a weapon and went after him.
At last, they married. But the educated young man and the illiterate butcher still had a hard time getting along.
In the warm spring of March, Xia Shi picked a few flowers to put in a vase. Zhou Di came in carrying half a pig and asked if he wanted to stir-fry the flowers for dinner.
Didn't want to eat? Then they could go to bed. Zhou Di dropped the meat and carried him toward the bed.
In the sweltering heat of midsummer, Xia Shi complained that Zhou Di shouldn't go around bare-chested. Zhou Di hoisted him over his shoulder and carried him into the inner room, then stripped him too. They slept after sweating through the heat.
During the busy autumn harvest, the work in the fields couldn't wait. But whenever Xia Shi said he wanted to go work outside, Zhou Di would drag him off to bed and keep him busy until the middle of the night.
In the depths of winter, Xia Shi sat by the window watching the snow. As soon as Zhou Di came in, he bundled Xia Shi up and stuffed him into bed. "Why are you sitting there in this freezing weather? You'll catch a chill. Let's go to bed. Winter is the time to make babies."
Xia Shi: "..." He turned and bit Zhou Di, grumbling. Fine, they'd go to bed. What a nuisance.
Even if Zhou Di was a nuisance, Xia Shi still thought he was the best.
The days went on, and spring came around again. Zhou Di had just returned from the fields with a handful of flowers, which he quietly put in the vase by the window.
Xia Shi stood with his hands behind his back and admired them, then ran and jumped onto Zhou Di's back, wrapping his arms around him. "The flowers are so pretty!"
*
When they first married, the neighbors all said they wouldn't last. But they saw Zhou Di carrying meat, fabric, and snacks to Xia Shi, and they saw that the rugged butcher had stopped wearing ragged clothes and was always protected by his husband. So they all fell silent, hiding a little envy in their eyes.
Less than two years later, the couple moved to town, opened a shop, bought a large courtyard, and had a child. The villain who had once caused them trouble was scared witless, failed to pass the civil service exams, and ended up destitute.
[A little scene]
When they had just married, Xia Shi pointed to the door and told Zhou Di that he couldn't get into bed without taking a bath. Zhou Di looked at him in silence for a moment, then gave a muffled reply and went to wash.
One winter night not long after they married, Zhou Di took a cold shower and dashed into bed. Looking at Xia Shi with a straight face, he said, "I've washed tonight, so I can get into bed."
Xia Shi, who had just kicked him out because his back was sore: "..."
