Born into a world rife with mutations, Ming Huang's wish is to rid it of every anomaly.
He graduated at the top of his class from the training academy, but on his very first day at work, his superior, Wu Xing, took an inexplicable dislike to him and mocked him for "stepping through the door with his left foot first."
Only after his colleagues filled him in did he learn that Wu Xing resented him for taking his place as "the best graduate in history."

The others stood by and enjoyed the spectacle, laughing at Ming Huang for getting on the wrong side of a superior several ranks above him. They also mocked Wu Xing for being surpassed by a newcomer and losing his temper over it.
But what they didn't expect was that after work, Ming Huang would seize Wu Xing by the neck, pin him against the wall, and lean down to whisper softly in his ear.
"You were pretty convincing with those cutting remarks and expressions today. You fooled them perfectly, but that... wasn't sincere, was it?"
Wu Xing lowered his eyes, docile as could be, no longer acting arrogant.
"Of course not. You will always be my Lord God."
"Oh, I see. Good."
Yeah, right. As if anyone would believe you, you little brat who's gotten too big for your boots.
Ming Huang, who had already been killed by Wu Xing a hundred times and nearly had his memories erased, gritted his teeth inwardly.
