[I really can't keep writing this one. Maybe I'll fill it in someday if fate allows.]
The second time Chu Lian met Feng Yinghuai, she was on her knees, begging him.
The man held a book at his desk, not even looking up. "Take her outside and kill her. Don't spill any blood."
He was the all-powerful Marquis of Zhenyuan. Chu Lian was a flower seller who had seduced his younger brother into eloping with her. In his eyes, her life was worth less than a weed by the roadside.
Just as Chu Lian was about to be held under the river and drowned, the old Marchioness spoke up on her behalf instead. "Enough. Let her stay at the estate as a concubine."
And so she was locked away in the rear courtyard of the Marquis of Zhenyuan's manor.
The Second Young Master of the manor, who loved her just as much as she loved him, was sent far away to the borderlands for training.
Once he returned, Chu Lian would enter his chambers and become his concubine.
On the day the Second Young Master returned, Chu Lian was kneeling by Feng Yinghuai's desk, grinding ink for him.
Hearing the news, she sprang to her feet, only for Feng Yinghuai to press her shoulders and make her sit back down.
The man looked at her, his expression inscrutable. "My second brother has returned. What does that have to do with you?"
Chu Lian didn't understand.
Feng Yinghuai had changed his mind.
At first, he'd only said she'd stay at the manor as a concubine. But now...
Whose concubine would she be?
Chu Lian would be no one's concubine.
