That's Just How College Guys Are

The first time Li Xing saw Xie Zhiling in the campus clinic, Xie Zhiling was wearing a mask, his clear, cool eyes the only part of his face visible. He asked, "How tall are you?"

Burning with a fever, Li Xing stared at him blearily. "186 centimeters."

"..."

Xie Zhiling glanced at him. "I meant your temperature."

"Oh." Li Xing took out the thermometer. "38.8 degrees."

The second time Li Xing saw Xie Zhiling, he'd shattered the backboard with a dunk.

Sitting in the campus clinic, he lost himself watching Xie Zhiling lower his gaze to bandage his hand. His eyelashes were long, and his fingers slender and pale.

Xie Zhiling: "Try not to use this hand too much over the next couple of days."

Li Xing, completely off topic: "Right, bro, I smashed the backboard when I dunked."

Xie Zhiling: "..."

Nobody asked.

Xie Zhiling had recently been assigned to work as a campus doctor at a university.

His friend teased him. At the hospital, patients were always using appointments as an excuse to admire his face. Surely he would attract tons of girls at school.

Xie Zhiling thought for a moment before replying, "No girls, but there is one male college student."

A lively, energetic college guy, carefree and bold.

Whether he was sick or not, he kept turning up at the clinic, always coming up with new excuses to see him. Today he had a fever and a sore throat, tomorrow he'd say his head hurt from reading too long, and the day after that he'd complain of leg cramps and sore muscles...

He'd cling to Xie Zhiling, circling him and calling him "bro" all day long.

Whenever Xie Zhiling worked the night shift, the guy kept messaging him until three or four in the morning, then bounced out of bed full of energy at seven to bring him breakfast at the clinic.

Later, after keeping Xie Zhiling up until three or four in the morning, the guy would still be full of energy and off to his eight o'clock class the next day, while Xie Zhiling lay in bed, aching and too weak to get up.

Xie Zhiling: ...Is this what college guys are like?
