Can't Afford to Go Against Number One

Chu Lechuan has two childhood friends. The three of them grew up together and were very close. In kindergarten, they slept side by side, with Chu Lechuan in the middle.

When they came home from elementary school to do their homework, the three of them squeezed around the dining table, with Chu Lechuan still in the middle.

In high school, after Chu Lechuan realized his sexual orientation, he started keeping his distance from his two childhood friends.

But the two of them still came to see him every day.

Whenever the three of them studied together, Chu Lechuan was still squeezed between them, so tightly he could barely move his hand to write.

Chu Lechuan started to feel like something was off.

He came clean to his childhood friends: "I'm gay. I like men."

He thought that would make them understand they needed to keep their distance. Instead, they clung to him even more.

At first,

Yang Siyuan smiled. "I don't understand why you like men, but it's your choice. We're best friends, and that won't make us drift apart."

Gu Song'an nodded. "Same here."

Later, Yang Siyuan took away the love letter Chu Lechuan had written to someone else. "You're free to like men, but I can't just stand by while you chase after a jerk."

Gu Song'an agreed wholeheartedly. "Same here."

Later still, Chu Lechuan realized he'd fallen for his childhood friends, but both of them were completely straight!

So he secretly changed his college application and fled to a school two thousand kilometers away.

Yang Siyuan caught up with him in the airport terminal, furious. "Lechuan, why are you running? If you really want to date and find a man, why not consider me? For you, I could bend a little."

Gu Song'an came running after him and habitually squeezed in on the other side. He nodded. "Yeah, exactly. Same here!"

Yang Siyuan: "..."

Chu Lechuan: "..."
