The Challenge of Marking an Elite Beta

01

The most outstanding young talent on the Capital Star is a commoner Beta surrounded by all sorts of rumors: Hai Yuesheng.

They say he is peerlessly beautiful, like the cool, clear moon rising over the sea, just as his name suggests. Wherever he goes, all eyes turn to him, and countless people seek his affection.

They say he is greedy and faithless, using the powerful people around him as stepping stones to climb higher, then discarding them when they are no longer useful.

People all say there's no need to give him your heart.

A beauty as venomous as a snake, and a lowly Beta at that. Just have your fun and leave it at that.

They say he will never be able to honestly accept anyone's love or give even a shred of his own in return.

But no one expected Hai Yuesheng to fall into a romance that rocked the whole school just before graduation.

His partner is his polar opposite: a wealthy, laid-back heir who has nothing but love and romance on his mind.

Yan Hang, the only son of the illustrious Yan family, grew up with everyone's hopes pinned on him. Yet he turned into a bona fide couch potato, a fool of a rich man's son.

He likes good food, fun, and anything enjoyable that doesn't require him to think too hard.

While everyone else is training hard in martial arts on the athletic field, he takes the chance to climb aboard the highest starship and look at the stars.

The only thing he has ever stuck with is pursuing Hai Yuesheng.

But after less than half a year of passionate romance, Hai Yuesheng left him for the battlefield without even a word of goodbye.

Their whirlwind romance ended in nothing but heartbreak and a huge mess.

Yan Hang waited for him for four long years, only to receive news of his death.

At the same time, he learned that Hai Yuesheng didn't love him. He'd only been with him for the power of his family.

Despairing of everything, Yan Hang stopped fighting and followed his family's arrangements, heading to a remote star system to build up a record of political achievements.

A violent uprising broke out just after he arrived, and the situation grew more dangerous by the day. A mysterious person appeared out of nowhere and saved him in a life-or-death moment, displaying overwhelming force before leaving nothing behind but a silhouette.

Yan Hang went to thank his rescuer, but the other person kept making excuses and refused to see him.

Feeling that something was off, Yan Hang went to confront him in person, only to catch his supposedly dead ex-boyfriend.

A lovestruck, sweet Alpha top x an icy beauty of a Beta bottom.

Reading guide:

1. The bottom has always been a Beta and will not change into an Omega or anything else. He cannot be permanently marked. He can be temporarily marked, but the mark fades quickly.

2. Not a mecha story. Lots of personal worldbuilding, my take on space opera.

3. The two are personified as an adorable golden retriever x a clever border collie. Puppy love all the way. 1v1, each other's first love.

Theme: Idealism can purify people's hearts and bring them together. It can also correct the injustices of realism.
