She's Back

Shen Zhizhu is back.

Ruan Sheng's misery begins on this day.

It feels as if she's back in that stormy night from her youth. The tattooed ringleader, chewing gum, points at her. "Ruan Sheng, stand guard outside the bathroom. Don't let anyone in."

Ruan Sheng obediently does as she's told.

She trembles in the thunder and lightning, trying to convince herself she can't hear a thing.

Slaps, insults, punches and kicks... Shen Zhizhu insisted on standing up to the school's ringleader and brought this on herself.

And years later, when Shen Zhizhu returns to her old stomping grounds, accomplished and successful, all the revenge she takes on Ruan Sheng is just as much her own fault.

Reader's Guide:

1. The leads are switch, and there's melodrama. The main draw is the toxic romance.

2. The heroine has hidden landmine-girl tendencies.

3. Happy ending.

[Important: The heroine did not take part in the bullying and tried to help the second female lead, but the latter didn't know about it.]

[Regarding the landmine-girl concept, here's a definition borrowed from Baidu Baike:

"A woman with certain behavioral traits and psychological tendencies. Such women often appear cute and delicate, but after getting to know them or dating them, they may reveal an unbearable side, such as being emotionally unstable or having a strong desire to control their partner, making it feel like you've stepped on a landmine and triggered an explosion."

The heroine is the kind who hides it well. She may not even realize it herself.]
