Song Xuehe transmigrated into a book, becoming the villain’s cannon-fodder butler.
Just like every domineering CEO novel has a tool-character butler who says, “I’m glad the young master hasn’t smiled in so long,” he was one too. But as the villain’s butler, he was special.
The villain had absolute power, opposed everyone equally, and made it his mission to crush them all.
Song Xuehe, meanwhile, had a beautiful face and a poisonous heart. When the villain plotted schemes, he offered brilliant ideas. When the villain prepared to kill someone, he handed him the knife. While the villain slaughtered everyone in front, he made strategic preparations behind the scenes.
What a perfect master-and-servant duo of villains!
But when the villain’s power grew so overwhelming that he completely eclipsed the hero’s side and things spiraled out of control, the author swept their pen across the page. Just like that, the lawless big bad died in an accident. And his loyal butler, naturally, didn’t escape either. He went from a promising young man to the villain’s gravekeeper, spending the rest of his life that way.
Song Xuehe (smiling as he tears up the script): He refuses to accept this!
What’s so fun about destroying the king when the kingdom grows cold? Isn’t making money and staying healthy much better?
So one dark night, as the villain geared up for the hundredth time to target the hero and his love interest, Song Xuehe thoughtfully served him a pot of chrysanthemum tea to cool his temper and put on the Great Compassion Mantra.
The villain finished the tea and calmed down. After listening to the mantra, he felt free of desire, and the fire in his body faded away too.
The villain frowned suspiciously. “Is something not quite right?”
Song Xuehe looked innocent. “No?”
The villain: “Then what’s with this music?”
Song Xuehe smiled shyly. “Doesn’t it suit your temperament, sir?”
As the Great Compassion Mantra played in 360-degree surround sound throughout the study late at night, a flicker of uncertainty appeared in the villain’s usually ruthless, shrewd eyes. He felt as if he were about to be sent off to the afterlife.
Song Xuehe quietly replaced the villa’s decorations with “Keep Calm and Stay Peaceful” and “Peace Brings Prosperity.” He put the Tao Te Ching in the study. Whenever his phone screen was visible in front of the villain, it showed a picture of someone holding a lotus, free of desire. The family’s main dish was fried lotus flowers, and dessert was lotus cakes. All that was left was to stick a lotus on the villain’s head and help him find inner peace and face life with a smile.
#With all this influence, the gloomy villain should take a break, right?#
#This is what a butler should do.#
#If this still doesn’t work, he might as well pick out a tombstone for him (closes eyes).#
Huo Yi really did feel like lotus flowers, leaves, and pods were about to sprout from his head. For the first time, he took a serious look at his beautiful-faced butler. Watching the young man bustle about, as obedient and loyal as ever, his doubts slowly faded.
...It seemed he’d been overthinking things.
Then that very night, he saw his butler lounging on the sofa with a tablet, his long, slender fingers scrolling across the screen as he muttered to himself, looking rather troubled.
Huo Yi moved closer and heard him say, “This tombstone is quite nice. It’s grand and classy, with a real presence. It would suit Mr. Huo.”
Huo Yi: ???
Later, Huo Yi, who was devoted to crushing everyone, heard from a subordinate amid his busy schedule that the butler seemed to like him.
Huo Yi frowned and scoffed.
His butler was beautiful, considerate, and obedient, and could handle anything with ease.
But feelings seemed like a useless thing that had no place in his butler’s life.
Then he looked around and saw everyone staring at his butler with eager, possessive expressions: his guests, business partners, rivals, and even the two idiots he’d always wanted to kill.
Huo Yi: ?
Subordinate: Should we make a move?
Huo Yi took a deep breath. “...The plan has changed. We’re not targeting anyone for now. I’m going home.”
