A Heart in Love

During her summer vacation in high school, Tian Mengmeng met a strange man at the convenience store her family ran in Seoul.

He had a pair of exceptionally beautiful phoenix eyes, but they were full of a deathly stillness, as if he were hiding in filth.

Her father told her that the man was a former colleague of his and would be staying for a while in the rooftop room upstairs.

Tian Mengmeng kept her curiosity in check, stealing glances at him every day while reminding herself not to get close.

Then one day, after leaving a club in Gangnam, she couldn't get a ride through the app. Worse, someone had their eyes on her.

In the pouring rain, the dark umbrella tilted gently upward. She stared in surprise at the unexpected figure and asked,

"What are you doing here?"

"Good girls should get home early." Lan Yaozhai was a man of few words, his expression cool.

Meeting his focused, jet-black eyes, Tian Mengmeng felt her heart flutter and muttered softly, "Old man!"

"What do you mean, old man? How rude. Call me Uncle." Seeing that she wouldn't come over, Lan Yaozhai held out a hand. His long fingers were slender and well-defined, looking clean and pure in the endless winter night.

"... No wonder you couldn't find a girlfriend before, acting so cold." After grumbling, she sweetly changed her tune. "Oppa, aren't you going to comfort me?"

Lan Yaozhai froze for a moment, then realized what she meant. He leaned close to her ear and gently coaxed her. "I'll take you home."

No one knew that the look in her eyes had already given away every one of her secret feelings for him.

That was the first time she had rebelled in her eighteen years of an otherwise peaceful life.
