Reborn on the eve of the apocalypse, Lang Yuan, his face hideously scarred, stumbled toward himself.

Just out of the bath, Lang Yuan's skin was as fair as jade, and his beauty was dazzling. He tilted his head slightly, puzzled. "Who are you?"

Lang Yuan opened his mouth. "...My name is Lang Yuan!"

Yuan, as in the abyss. I'm you, the one who crawled out of hell.

*

Lang Yuan had endured countless hardships. Now that he was back, all he wanted was for Lang Yuan to live freely.

So after the apocalypse began, he used his foreknowledge to keep Lang Yuan safe and comfortable.

But the fiance who had once caused his death kept pestering Lang Yuan, and Lang Yuan couldn't bring himself to cut ties.

Lang Yuan's eyes darkened. During an attack by a terrifying monster, he deliberately let the fiance push him down the stairs. "...Can't you see what he's really like yet?"

"Do you want to die?!" Lang Yuan's eyes blazed with fury.

Human nature is hard to change, especially when you have a mind of your own, haven't suffered much, and have a bit of a bleeding heart.

Lang Yuan stayed by Lang Yuan's side, under the pretense of seeking refuge.

Watching over him, protecting him, training him.

At last, after driving away all the flies buzzing around them, he realized that something was off with the two of them!

"I want to understand you."

Lang Yuan said, "You know me so well. I want to know everything about you, too."

Lang Yuan's dead heart gave a faint tremor. His voice almost shaking, he asked, "Why?"

Why did he want to understand him?

What would he want to do once he understood him?

*

Much later, Lang Yuan learned the truth.

He held his once-broken self tight, trembling all over.

The salvation he had yearned for in his despair was, in the end, something he had given himself!
