The Nonhuman Court

Ling You is an utterly ordinary university student. In her dreams, she is dragged to another world, where Damon, the Devil's son, tells her she must fight for justice in Hell!

Ling You: What hell? What justice?

Damon: I'm telling you to become a lawyer.

Ling You: But I'm not a law student!

Damon: Hahaha, stop pretending. I already looked into you. Your other name is Naruhodo!

Ling You: ...

Ling You, who just likes playing games: May I ask, if I can shout "Objection!", can I be a lawyer?

Once Ling You starts the job, she discovers that the entire court system in Hell is a complete shambles. It's not as though she can't be a lawyer.

And so

"Vampires accuse blood beverage companies of watering down their drinks"

"Does Heaven's school refusing to admit demons count as racial discrimination?"

"Can a werewolf who injures someone on a full-moon night plead not guilty?"

Ling You resolves each case one by one and makes a name for herself in Hell. Even Heaven starts asking her to represent its clients.

Damon watches her laughing and chatting with the angels, and fidgets uneasily nearby.

Damon: "Because of you, unnecessary feelings have begun to sprout in my heart."

Ling You: "Hey, don't copy lines from video games!"

[Quick-witted, snarky, and bursting with initiative human Ling You x sharp-tongued, socially clueless, emotionally dense Devil's son Damon, who is completely at Ling You's mercy]

Reading Guide:

1. One-on-one pairing, both characters' first relationship, happy ending, an innocent bickering couple

2. Lots of personal worldbuilding; my own take on Western fantasy

3. Two worlds: Western fantasy in dreams and modern life in reality, with the dream world as the main setting
