Rainbow Goddess on the Cliff / Iris on the Cliff
The last of humanity lives on the cliffs of the world's tallest mountain. Rail elevators connect numerous transit stations from top to bottom, and people live in cities carved into the cliffs. According to rumor, both the snowy peaks and the ground are extremely dangerous. As a result, the cities midway up the cliffs are highly developed and bustling, while the closer you get to the snowy peaks or the ground, the more desolate and backward the settlements become.
A girl named Iris lives in Rainbow Village, a remote settlement on the frontier. To others, her head is full of impractical, bizarre ideas. She is quiet and taciturn, likes to sit and think, and is always flying her aircraft in circles around the snowy mountain. When Iris turns sixteen, her aunt wants her to take over the family repair shop and inn, and decides to find her a match. Her aunt is confident she has planned Iris a "wonderful future." But it's not what Iris wants. Then Emrys, her childhood friend and sweetheart, writes to invite her to Middle City. He says he has become a magician serving the royal family and hopes he can help Iris... So Iris says goodbye to her aunt and sets out on her journey.
"Ever since I was little, I've wondered what's beyond the snowy peaks and on the ground. What secrets are hidden there?"
