A False Alarm

On their wedding anniversary, his wife came home from work as usual, bringing along a sunny, handsome young man.

"He's only twenty, still a student. Rent around here is so expensive, and you know students don't have much money. Besides, he's an intern I'm supervising. Whether you look at it professionally or personally, letting him stay with us makes perfect sense."

He looked at the boy's eyes, so similar to his own.

Twenty years old, a young college student, becoming a woman's coworker and relentlessly seducing her.

How nice. He'd used the exact same trick to climb the ladder back then.

He keenly noticed that after the boy moved in, his wife started sleeping in a separate room from him.

Even when he climbed into her bed wearing a Playboy Bunny outfit, she merely glanced at him calmly. "Aren't you cold? Go to bed early."

Gradually, she started staying out all night. She repeatedly disappeared with the boy and didn't return until daybreak, coming home one after the other.

His wife had suddenly stopped loving him.

He hoped it was just a false alarm.

Lately, she had been busy trying to convince her neurotic husband she really wasn't cheating on him.

But he was so difficult to placate that it made her, already impatient by nature, increasingly frustrated.

One day, she stopped explaining, stopped trying to prove herself, and stopped coming home.

Her husband stubbornly believed she no longer loved him.

Fine. She'd show him this wasn't a false alarm.
