"The boy loved her with a rebellious streak in every bone."
Qian Su was born into nobility. The Immortal Capital placed high hopes on her as a descendant of the Fallen Immortals. At five, she gained the ability to bring the dead back to life. At twelve, she was sent to the Fallen Immortal Palace to train as a candidate for the throne.
·
When she first arrived at the Fallen Immortal Palace, she casually chose a boy to be her attendant.
The boy was handsome and refined, gentle and graceful. He cared for Qian Su in every way, staying by her side even after she came of age.
Who would have guessed that this boy she had chosen on a whim was Xian You, the heir to the Imperial Tomb who had been left behind?
·
Xian You was a royal descendant, carefully raised by the Imperial Tomb. He was born with the ability to shatter the spiritual wasteland, and could crush an opponent's spirit with a casual move.
But he was rebellious to the core. He ran away from home as a boy and stayed gone for a thousand years.
When the ruler of the Imperial Tomb found him, he was combing Qian Su's hair.
·
Everyone knew that the Immortal Capital and the Imperial Tomb had long been bitter enemies in their struggle for the throne.
As the most promising heirs of their respective clans, Qian Su and Xian You were both dragged into the conflict.
·
That day, Qian Su turned all the spiritual power in her body into a roaring beast and pushed it toward Xian You with all her might. Her all-out, aggressive attack shattered his soul.
Later, he barely survived.
·
A hundred years later, amid driving snow and bitter winds, Qian Su found Xian You.
He was lying in a snowdrift with a wine flask in hand. When he saw Qian Su, he slowly got to his feet and, just as he used to, asked her gently, "Qian Su, did you eat well today?"
Wrapped in a thick cloak, Qian Su walked over and took it off to drape it over him. With tears glimmering in her eyes, she asked him with utmost seriousness, "Xian You, if you had another chance, could you claim the throne?"
He was silent for a long time. At last, as she began to cry, he answered just as seriously, "I could."
"The Immortal Capital has fallen. I've been cursed by a demon art, and I won't live past tonight. Now I'm going to bring you back to life."
Those were the last words Qian Su said to Xian You.
·
When time returned to the day Qian Su came of age, Xian You, who was supposed to be there for her coming-of-age ceremony, never showed up.
Not long afterward, Xian You, immaculate and refined, stood before Qian Su once more. The powerful aura that burst silently from him, capable of crushing all things, scattered everyone's spirits in terror.
He looked down at her, his voice cool and clear. "Qian Su, let me walk this blood-soaked road first."

Blurb:
Everyone says she is the daughter of the Seven-Colored Immortal River.
The year Fushan and Yuling fought over a sacred land, the blood ran dry and corpses filled the fields.
Zhen Yan, left to wander the streets, was taken in by the people of Fushan.
Fushan raised Zhen Yan for a hundred years, giving her a life of luxury until she came of age.
As an adult, Zhen Yan was breathtakingly beautiful and exceptionally gifted. A casual wave of her hand could dry up rivers and send seawater surging inland.
·
Everyone said she was the daughter of the Seven-Colored Immortal River, possessed the noblest immortal bloodline, and was the most promising heir of the Immortal Capital.
That year, in the midst of a heavy snowfall, several elders personally brought her back to the Immortal Capital.
Back in the Immortal Capital, her natural ability to command water and condense snow quickly made her a rising star. Before long, she was one of the most talked-about figures on the Six Realms' rising talents list.
·
But one day, several elders who had once brought her back suddenly drove her into the Valley of Despair. Under the pretense of upholding heaven's will and exterminating demons, they flayed her and picked her bones, then imprisoned her in the Drowning River's barrier.
The reason was that she had once helped a young master.
That young master was Chen Yin, carefully cultivated by the demon realm to unite the Six Realms.
Rumors spread through every street and alley. Everyone said she and Chen Yin spent their days and nights entangled together, living extravagantly and debauchedly, intending to corrupt the world.
But when Zhen Yan was trapped in the Drowning River, Chen Yin, who had always been gentle and attentive, speaking softly and sweetly to her, merely said, "Zhen Yan, you really do resemble my childhood sweetheart who died, in a few ways."
Chen Yin didn't save her. He kicked her while she was down.
·
Zhen Yan felt humiliated.
She thought she would be trapped in the Drowning River forever, never to rise again.
Then one day, Fushan suddenly attacked the Immortal Capital, leaving it devastated and flooding its rivers.
Water sprayed through the air as Cang Xun, the Venerable Emperor of Fushan, strode forward with an aura that could destroy heaven and earth. His sword flashed like a falling star, cleaving through the sky.
With one strike, he split the Drowning River in two.
·
Above the Seven-Colored Immortal River, rushing in a torrent, the strong wind filled his sleeves, embroidered with auspicious clouds and wisteria. He pointed at the elders who claimed to be "upholding heaven's will" and said coldly, "You dare lay a hand on someone Fushan raised?"
·
[Bonus Scene]:
Zhen Yan had always thought that Grandpa Mu, the kindly old man, was the Venerable Emperor of Fushan.
Grandpa Mu took her to Rain Spirit Valley and raised her for a hundred years, teaching her swordsmanship, cultivation techniques, and how to be a good person.
But on the day Zhen Yan left Rain Spirit Valley, a handsome white-robed gentleman with an otherworldly bearing suddenly appeared at the barrier.
He looked at her and called, "Zhen Yan."
Zhen Yan stared at him in a daze.
Grandpa Mu smiled beside her. "Zhen Yan, the Venerable Emperor is here to take you home."
The Venerable Emperor? So he was Cang Xun, the real Venerable Emperor.
