In his third year abroad, a new neighbor moves into the apartment next door to Wen Fan.
The shabby little apartment is soon packed with luxury goods, including a top-brand leather sofa, a custom marble dining table, V's latest crystal chandelier, and famous paintings and porcelain that he has only ever seen on television.
Wen Fan thinks the neighbor must have a screw loose. A turtle without a shell is propping up the table, and someone with no money is putting on airs.
The old apartment's circuit breaker is always tripping. After the new neighbor moves in, the busted breaker finally gives out. Wen Fan goes out to reset it and unexpectedly comes face-to-face with that turtle, discovering his long-lost ex-boyfriend... No, his former sugar daddy.
Wen Fan: Hah, that turtle's got a screw loose :)
The sugar daddy keeps showing up at the cafe where Wen Fan works. After his coworker notices for the umpteenth time that this obviously wealthy customer keeps looking at Wen Fan, they can't help asking.
Wen Fan: "I don't know him."
Gu Jinbai corrects him: "Ex-boyfriend."
Wen Fan: "...Former sugar daddy."
Gu Jinbai: "..."
Wen Fan has spent years scamming and freeloading off Gu Jinbai, taking his money, his body, and his feelings. He considers himself a disgracefully unprofessional, thoroughly detestable kept lover, so his sugar daddy must have finally seen through him and come to collect what that awful kept lover owes.
But...
If he's here to collect a debt, fine.
Why is he taking Wen Fan's clothes off?!
