A series of pirate AUs inspired by the TV show Black Sails. The Marauder is a ship with Forks as captain, Padfoot as first mate, Prongs as gunner, and Moony as quartermaster. Pairings: Wolfstar, no fixed roles, and James/Lily.
Whenever the pirates at the tavern closest to Nassau's western harbor got drunk, someone would always ask how the Marauder's first mate, Sirius Black, ended up working under Captain James Potter, that joke of a man.
“Old Potter was an idiot. Even if he was one of the founders who built the Pirate Republic alongside my father, it was nothing but luck. His son James, what did he call himself again, ‘Prongs’? I watched him grow up. His father ate and drank well thanks to mine, then had the nerve to strike out on his own. And now young Potter has made a laughingstock of the Marauder, the name old Fremont left behind.”
“James Potter is a spoiled arrogant fool. He dismissed all the sailors who used to serve under his father, calling it retirement to make it sound nice. In truth, he thinks himself above the other Nassau pirates. His current crew is a sorry lot, all cripples and cowards, with pretty boys like Black who grew up in luxury. He's turned being a pirate into child's play.”
The wooden tables at the Easysa roared with laughter. Some people pounded the table, others whistled. The place was lively.
