The Scholar's Beautiful Husband

A great beauty arrives in the remote county of Lu and opens a bookshop.

People below the mountain say the beauty is so peerlessly lovely that they must be an immortal descended from the heavens. The scholars at the academy on the mountain come flocking to see them, but none can win the beauty's favor.

Fu Yanjin, the academy's top student, dresses plainly and thinks of nothing but studying.

One day, by chance, he ducks into the bookshop to escape the rain.

The famously aloof beauty looks straight at him. Their gaze is like fire, scorching him inch by inch.

He thinks: This is no beauty. It's a fox spirit that eats people.

Li Xi: "I haven't seen you around before, scholar."

Fu Yanjin catches that smiling gaze and hurriedly looks away. "I am Fu Yanjin, a humble scholar. I came in to escape the rain. Please forgive the intrusion..."

"You're no intrusion." Li Xi gets up and fetches him an umbrella. "Come by whenever you like."

Fu Yanjin's ears turn red.

He nods politely.

Little does he know that one nod will last a lifetime.
