Rain Falls When the Ginkgo Leaves Turn Yellow

The first time He Huaishu saw He Ying's name, he felt a fondness for her, because her beloved great-grandmother had been named Suxin.

When the ginkgo leaves turned yellow, on a rainy night in the old town, He Ying met He Huaishu for the first time. The soft, dim light fell around him alone, as if he were the only person left in the world.

He had pale blue eyes, gentle and affectionate yet cool and distant. They seemed able to see into people's hearts, but never lingered on anyone for long.

A renowned photographer, He Huaishu had traveled far and wide, capturing countless scenes through his lens, yet never once stopped for anyone.

He Ying thought she might be the exception.

Until he slipped away without a word.

She had felt her heart stir and had felt pain, but He Ying never let herself wallow. She poured all her passion into running her inn, and her days flourished. Romance bloomed around her, bright as spring.

He Huaishu thought his heart had long since turned to iron, that no one in the world could ever move him again. Then he met He Ying and realized he had underestimated how deeply he could fall.

He could take her into his heart, but he couldn't let her go.

Another year, the ginkgo leaves turned yellow under the rain. He Huaishu clasped He Ying's hand tightly, as if he meant to meld her into his very bones and never let go.

He Ying helplessly complained to a friend, “Why is this man so clingy? He won't give me the slightest bit of space...”

Late that night, he held both her hands in one of his, lowered his head to nuzzle the hollow of her neck, and asked in a low, slightly aggrieved voice, “Yingying, is this the kind of space you want...?”

Her eyes reddened, a glimmer of tears in their corners, and she murmured accusingly, “You beast!”

Reading Guide:

1. Updates every other day.

2. A realistic-leaning story. Both leads have had past relationships.

3. The story also features the wartime love and epic romance between the female lead's great-grandmother and the male lead's grandfather.

4. The leads are not related by blood.

5. I have an outline and detailed chapter plans. I don't accept writing instructions, but I will consider reasonable suggestions.

Steadfast, gentle innkeeper × sunny, kind-hearted mixed-race photographer

May the rain fall as the ginkgo leaves turn yellow, year after year. I hope we can face it together.
