Everyone in their circle knew that Xu Muyan, the second daughter of the Xu family, was a force to be reckoned with.

She'd smashed her older brother in the head with an ashtray and single-handedly kicked him out of the line of succession. Everyone in the Xu family had to steer clear of her. In business, she was ruthless and decisive, earning the nickname "King of Hell Xu."

She coveted her sister-in-law.

Everyone knew it, but her older brother didn't dare utter a word.

To help them grow closer, Ji Wanqing moved into the Xu family home a month before the engagement.

Ji Wanqing had always thought of Xu Muyan as a younger sister.

Her sister-in-law was so well-behaved and pretty, always clinging to her. She was afraid of the dark, too, and would come knocking on Ji Wanqing's door with a pillow in her arms, asking to sleep together. Whenever she called her "Sister-in-law," her voice was so soft it seemed it could melt, and her mouth sounded as if it held a piece of candy that was just about to dissolve.

She was so well-behaved.

Ji Wanqing really liked her sister-in-law.

That is, until the night before the engagement party, when Xu Muyan knocked on her door.

"Sister-in-law." Xu Muyan took Ji Wanqing's hand and pressed it against her own cheek. She murmured, "Why do you insist on getting engaged? Wouldn't it be better to be with me?"

"I'll take good care of you."

On that pretty face was a pair of eyes filled with utterly unhinged madness.

Without Ji Wanqing, Xu Muyan was a mad dog off its leash.

"Xu Muyan!" Ji Wanqing said in a low voice. "Are you crazy?"

Panting, she shoved Xu Muyan away, tears welling in the corners of her eyes.

"I'm your sister-in-law."

Those words immediately brought Xu Muyan back to her senses.

Xu Muyan stepped back and lowered her eyes to the pale, slender neck before her.

"Sister-in-law." Her voice was hoarse.

But it made Ji Wanqing shudder all over.

Ji Wanqing trembled as she buttoned up her clothes, her fingertips deathly pale. She staggered to her feet, her steps unsteady, her hair disheveled and the corner of her lip split.

She said softly, "Muyan, I'm going back now."

Xu Muyan watched her hurriedly retreating figure, then calmly sat on the edge of the bed. She opened the bedside drawer and took out a pack of women's cigarettes.

The ember glowed and dimmed.

Through the drifting smoke, her pretty face and icy eyes were faintly visible.

"Sister-in-law, you can't get away from me." A cold laugh rang through the bedroom. She tossed the half-smoked cigarette into the ashtray, where it burned slowly.

2. The older brother is a good-for-nothing playboy, and he has no feelings for his sister-in-law.
