Xie Mingli x Sui Chunsheng
A refined, powerful man in a position of authority x a dazzling, proud oil painter
Xie Mingli, the head of the Xie family, has held sole power for years and firmly occupied the family's top seat. He seems mild-mannered and refined, but in truth his methods are ruthless and formidable.
The man is blessed with a handsome face. Though he stands high above others, he enjoys an excellent reputation in both business and society. Even when he acts decisively and ruthlessly, he leaves no trace behind.
Xie Mingli first met Chunsheng at the Xie family's old residence. Chunsheng had come with his younger brother, Xie Mingcheng. The girl wore a plain white qipao, its hem swaying as she walked. Her eyes were dark and lively, and she carried a languid air untouched by the world. Her peerlessly beautiful face remained dazzling even behind a folding screen, as she curled up like a cat in a grand armchair.
That was the first time Xie Mingli entertained the dark thought of turning against his own family. Whatever rare breed of cat she might be, in the end, she could only stay by his side.

Chunsheng showed extraordinary talent for the colors of oil painting from a young age. She entered the Kyoto Academy of Fine Arts after placing first in Longchuan's art entrance exams.
By chance, she met Xie Mingcheng, who bought every painting she had made and paved the way for her future without asking for anything in return.
But on the second day after she moved into Mingcheng Residence, Xie Mingcheng's overseas business ran into trouble. Unable to be in two places at once, he had to go handle it himself.
Before leaving, he arranged everything for her.
Chunsheng spent most of her time painting at the residence. Once a painting was finished, she handed it to the butler, who took charge of selling it.
During that time, Xie Mingcheng's older brother, Xie Mingli, sometimes came to the residence to handle matters his younger brother had left in his care.
Chunsheng had seen that man once. The aggression beneath his gentle manner made her deeply uncomfortable, so whenever Xie Mingli came by, she stayed in her room painting and avoided him.
Unexpectedly, after one of her oil paintings was sold, the buyer sent her a picture showing that water had damaged the paint and offered a large sum for her to come repair it.
After much hesitation, Chunsheng picked up her bag and got into the car.
The luxury car and lavish villa made it clear that the buyer was no ordinary person.
Chunsheng carried in her box of paints, ready to apologize with an explanation. But when she saw the man sitting on the sofa, the rest of her words died in her throat.
After a long struggle, she managed to say, "For my paintings to have found favor with you, Mr. Xie... that's... not easy."
Xie Mingli had an exceptional air about him, his eyes smiling. "Indeed."
"It wasn't easy to trick you into coming here."
