The Cannon Fodder Top Has Something to Say

He Chu is a doctor who serves as cannon fodder in an old-school tragedy novel.

After the male lead abuses the female lead physically and emotionally, then forcibly takes her kidney to save his moonlight, he begs his friend He Chu to perform an operation that violates imperial law: implanting a chip to induce amnesia in the female lead, all in an effort to keep her from leaving.

Later in the book, when the female lead turns dark and is ready to kill everyone, the male lead shifts all the blame onto He Chu to appease her.

Overnight, the tool-character He Chu falls from grace. The female lead, consumed by hatred, tortures him to death, and his bright future becomes a stepping stone for the male lead's love and career.

He Chu, who has transmigrated here: lights a cigarette, don't bring me into this.

He learns he has become the book's cannon fodder at exactly the moment the male lead begs him to implant the chip.

"A Chu, we've been friends for years. I'm asking you, please."

He Chu says nothing and calmly lights a cigar.

The cold laboratory holds only He Chu and the female lead, Xie Shujing.

Looking down at Xie Shujing, He Chu still intends to perform the operation as the plot dictates, determined to muddy the waters.

But...

Xie Shujing secretly tugs at his sleeve, his voice sorrowful. "Save me."

Through the cigar smoke, He Chu's expression remains bland. "Why should I?"

Xie Shujing bites his lip, his eyes reddening. He looks at He Chu for a long moment, then grabs him before He Chu's patience runs out and slowly lowers himself. "I'll do anything."

The cigar in He Chu's hand trembles.

He lowers his eyes to meet the young man's gaze, full of restraint, and suddenly changes his mind.

What He Chu doesn't know is that the original novel is an unfinished tragedy.

Later in the book, after the male lead tears out his heart and lungs and torments him until life is worse than death, Xie Shujing becomes the story's greatest villain overnight. He spares no one who has hurt him.

He crushes every bone in the male lead's body, then blows the entire imperial star system to pieces like fireworks.
