Wu Shuang, a miserable corporate drone in the 21st century, is exhausted every day, and lives by the motto, "Lying flat is justice." One day, she opens her eyes to find she's become the owner of an anime company. Her employees act respectful and call her "President Wu," but in their hearts they're calling her "a ruthless exploiter, a miser, a stingy cheapskate"!
Rubbing her suddenly guilty conscience, she sneaks into the finance office. When she sees the seven-digit balance in the company account, she's so thrilled she nearly bites her fingers: She's rich!
Just as she's about to dissolve the company, take the money, and lie flat, a cold prompt rings in her mind:
[Ding! Happiness at Work System bound!]
[Company funds may only be used for business. Spend even a cent on yourself and it's embezzlement!]
Wu Shuang looks at the three-digit balance in her personal account and freezes on the spot: ⊙0⊙
[As long as you make your employees happy at work, you'll receive a daily lie-flat fund!]
Wu Shuang jolts upright from her deathbed: Now that's something I'm good at!
[Story highlights]
The art of reverse management:
Other bosses make empty promises. She waves a little red flag and gives her employees a pep talk: "Work happily! No overtime, ever! Our goal is three days on, four days off, and plenty of energy!"
An employee dozing off at work? She buys them a latex pillow with her own money: "Go catch up on sleep in the VIP lounge!"
An employee being picky and skipping lunch? She hires a nutritionist at great expense: "Anyone who leaves food behind today loses their attendance bonus!" (In reality, she'd already turned the attendance bonus into a milk tea fund.)
And so the company undergoes a complete transformation:
Flexible clock-ins, power cut right on time, and a snack cabinet better stocked than a supermarket. Every employee's happiness index goes through the roof!
[The variety show livestream upset]
When they join the variety show S-Rank Enterprise, everyone assumes Wu Shuang Animation will be cannon fodder.
Until the production team launches a surprise livestream:
Three in the afternoon. An employee is sunbathing on the terrace with a cat in their arms: "President Wu says inspiration comes from life~"
The meeting room projector is playing SpongeBob SquarePants: "President Wu says brainstorming should come with childhood memories~"
The boss herself is massaging a programmer's shoulders: "Can't finish the code? Do it tomorrow! Your health comes first!"
The internet goes wild: #I'llWorkThisJobForYou##IsItTooLateToApplyNow#
Before the show even finishes airing, the company's official account gains a million followers, and resumes pile up by the mountain!
The employees unite against overwork:
Watching their boss lie flat every day, the employees panic and hold an emergency meeting late into the night: "Where else could we find a job this amazing if the company goes under?!"
And so:
The lead artist voluntarily works herself to the bone to create an incredible illustration: "I want President Wu to lie back and count her money!"
The programmers secretly optimize the system: "We'll never let the boss worry about the servers!"
Even the receptionist teaches herself video editing to make a promotional video: "This company has to become famous across the universe!"
A "lazy boss" who seems to slack off but understands human nature inside and out. Her motto is: "Happy employees = me lying flat."
Armed with a System, she keeps trying to find loopholes: "Can buying milk tea for the employees count as a team-building expense? What do you mean, I need a receipt?!"
Forced to work, she laments in anguish: "Please stop trying so hard! I really don't want to become a billionaire!"
The programmer guy: A human typing machine, whose catchphrase is, "Let me make one more revision. President Wu deserves better."
The lead artist: Sweet and gentle on the surface, but explosive when riled. "Anyone who dares to let this company go under will have to get past my drawing tablet first!"
The finance manager: Holds the keys to the company treasury and keeps a close watch every day. "President Wu, don't even think about using company funds to buy fried chicken!"
