I Really Didn't Kill My Darling

(Lovecraftian, nonhuman, short story, mystery, dark and unsettling romance)

Jiang Lin suffers from intermittent amnesia.

One day, he is taken to the police station and told that all three of his husbands are dead, and that each died in his apartment.

His first husband died by electrocution.

His second husband slipped in the bathroom and hit the back of his head.

His third husband died after falling from a building.

The police believe Jiang Lin is a prime suspect,

but they find no concrete evidence.

In the end, they drop the charges against him.

That day, Jiang Lin, with no memory of what had happened, leaves the police station and returns home.

A delicious aroma drifts from the kitchen.

Jiang Lin walks over and sees a tall, slender, fair-skinned, beautiful man. He's even wearing an apron and holding a spatula.

Jiang Lin asks him, “Who are you?”

The man smiles warmly at him. “I'm your husband. Don't you remember?”

Jiang Lin: “.”

From that day on, Jiang Lin always feels someone watching him.

Whether he's packed into the subway with other people, walking along a sun-drenched street, or working in a busy office, he can feel an all-seeing black eye.

And once night falls,

that smooth, black thing covered in eyes

always coils around his legs and crawls up his waist...
