Miss Xu was blessed with a lovely face, but she was a fool, not right in the head. No one knew when she’d fallen ill.
A maid followed her around. They said she had been bought from an animal fighting pit and was capable of protecting her.
Outsiders only felt it was a pity. None of them knew that Miss Xu was only pretending to be mad and foolish. When it came to getting things done, she was more capable than anyone, decisive and unafraid of bloodshed.
Miss Xu carried a bellyful of secrets, keeping them from everyone, even those closest to her. That was, until the day the person who had always followed her returned, covered in wounds.
Yin Suyu asked her, “Do you suspect me, Miss? Do you want to kill me?”
Xu Wanhui had no intention of killing her, but still said, “Too bad I didn’t succeed.”
“Ten years ago, you pointed me out, and that’s why I was bought into the Xu family.” Yin Suyu’s gaze was cold yet utterly focused. “I have never been disloyal to you, Miss.”
“And if you were?”
“I’d be struck by lightning and die without a body left intact.”
