After dying in the modern world, Dong Ling became a gray wolf. She had no hunting skills at all, so she wandered around scavenging for food and catching small prey. One day, she found a beautiful snow-white wolf, injured in the snow. Dong Ling fed and cared for her. As she watched the snow wolf grow stronger day by day, she thought it would be nice to survive together with her as companions. During blizzards, the two wolves could only keep warm by huddling together. Rubbing against the snow wolf’s soft fur, Dong Ling asked her to start a pack with her. The proud snow wolf said nothing. When night fell, she seemed to lose her senses and bit Dong Ling’s neck. Dong Ling was in agony and bit her back. The taste of each other’s blood filled their mouths as they grappled desperately. Just before Dong Ling passed out, she thought she saw the snow wolf beneath her, blue-eyed, saying something to her. When she woke, she was alone, with only bloodstains spreading across the snow. Kindness gets you nowhere. Disappointed, Dong Ling left. Three months later, a pair of snow-white wolf pups latched onto her and called her Mom. Dong Ling was horrified. She was a female wolf. How could she possibly have gotten another female wolf pregnant? The snow wolf pups were boisterous and had enormous appetites, making Dong Ling’s life miserable. Determined to return them to their mother, she set out to find her. After countless hardships, she finally found the pups’ mother. The other wolf was fierce and brave, as lofty and untouchable as snow on a mountain peak, and the leader of her pack. But wasn’t this wolf the very snow wolf Dong Ling had rescued? After returning the pups to her, Dong Ling was ready to leave. So why wouldn’t the snow wolf let her go? She kept insisting that Dong Ling take responsibility. Dong Ling was completely bewildered. The protagonist lives somewhere equivalent to Siberia. Cang Yun, the snow wolf, is actually a tundra wolf, but she has white fur in this story, so she is called a snow wolf for clarity. The protagonist probably won’t transform into a human often. Most of those transformations happen during intimate scenes, and much of the story features the characters in wolf form. Though she had been given a second chance at life as an animal, Tang Ci decided to lie flat. Eat, sleep, sleep, eat, and lie on her back in the sun. What could be better? But why didn’t this zoo have any visitors? The zoo’s director was a kind old woman who kept the animals sleek and well-fed while pinching pennies for herself. Looking at the struggling zoo and its unchanging supply of fresh meat, Tang Ci decided to use the marketing experience she’d gained in her previous life to promote the place. First, she would squeeze through a gap no one had noticed, sneak out, and use the director’s phone to post a short video filmed as a lynx selfie. While the video slowly gained traction, she would charm the director, roll around to show off her intelligence, and earn her trust. Next, while the director cleaned the animals’ enclosures, she would persuade them to learn performances. Their slogan: No to animal performances, unless the animals insist on performing. Thanks to Tang Ci’s efforts, all the animals agreed to cooperate. The only exception was Raya, a golden-brown caracal, who had been abused and left covered in scars. She was temperamental and ferocious. There was nothing for it. Tang Ci would have to treat her with a million percent patience. Raya slapped her in the face with a paw. Tang Ci endured it. Raya bit off part of her tail. Tang Ci endured it. Raya rubbed her scent all over Tang Ci’s face. Tang Ci endured it. As the zoo grew more and more popular, Raya and Tang Ci grew closer and closer. Raya wanted to cuddle while walking, cuddle while sleeping, and cuddle while eating. The result of Raya following her everywhere was that when a tiger raised a paw to greet Tang Ci, Raya hissed at the tiger, who was many times bigger than her. When a turtle grinned at Tang Ci, Raya smacked its shell dozens of times. Over time, the animals started calling Tang Ci henpecked. Tang Ci sternly forbade them from spreading rumors.
