Blurb: When Jiang Yan was a rebellious high schooler, her father brought her to meet one of his interns. "Xiao Shen, this kid is really out of hand. I'll have to trouble you with her." The intern looked at Jiang Yan's colorful hair and agreed without expression. Years later, after graduating from university, Jiang Yan fought her way into a top company in her field, only to discover that the intern who had helped her get through adolescence had become a director at her new company. When Shen Qingwei came to see Jiang Yan's father again, he gritted his teeth and said, "Director Shen, I'll have to trouble you with this kid again." As before, Shen Qingwei first looked at Jiang Yan, making sure her hair was black and she was behaving herself. Only then did she give a reluctant nod, lips pressed together. Shen Qingwei had never changed. Restrained and patient, she could overcome any obstacle in pursuit of her goal. What no one had told her was that the child who could once be coaxed into beaming with a single lollipop would, as an adult, make her spend countless sleepless nights instead. She had just promised Director Jiang that she would take good care of his daughter. The moment she turned around, Jiang Yan dragged Shen Qingwei into bed. "Director Shen, haven't I been good enough?" The little troublemaker pretended to look hurt midway through. Shen Qingwei closed her eyes and chose to sink into needless remorse. Blurb for the upcoming novel Ms. Yu Has a Little Dog: Older woman/younger woman, seven-year age gap Mo Xiangbei's high school life could be summed up in one sentence: she spent two whole years secretly in love with the new Chinese teacher. Just before graduation, she gave her teacher a lofty "fake love letter" and ran off without waiting to see her reaction. They met again on the night of her university's centennial celebration. She "found" Teacher Yu, dead drunk, downstairs from her advisor's home, and the two naturally ended up getting a room. A mistaken beginning led to a mistaken course of events. Teacher Yu narrowed her eyes and recited, in a slurred voice, that pretentious, nonsensical postmodern poem. Mo Xiangbei retaliated by calling her Teacher Yu in the middle of sex. Teacher Yu didn't retaliate with words. She got straight to it, scratching Mo Xiangbei's back hard enough to draw blood. * After several wild nights, Teacher Yu seemed to have amnesia and acted as though she had never known Mo Xiangbei. As her advisor's excellent student, Mo Xiangbei found countless natural opportunities to run into her at home, at school, and along her dog-walking route. At last, Teacher Yu grew tired of these encounters and formally invited her to visit her apartment. Like cola meeting ice, sandalwood paired with an old book, clear tea meeting snowmelt, or a beauty framed by the evening breeze. The memories they should have buried surged back like a tide, bringing them back to a heartache that caught in the throat and heartbeats close enough to touch. To that moment when they could only let go, despite trying to hold tight. (Maybe the outcome wasn't a mistake after all.) Please note: No romantic feelings develop while the teacher-student relationship is still in effect. Theme: Dare to lead the way and strive with determination.
