Fallen Azure Sparrow

The mighty General Weiyuan has two brilliant subordinates.

One is the heir of the Marquis of Changning, born to a noble family, resourceful, and engaged at a young age to the Chancellor’s daughter.

The other is a bastard with no parents, wild and unruly, so fearsome that no young lady within ten miles would go near him.

Until one day, Shen Que, the Chancellor’s daughter, came to bring pastries to her fiance.

The heir of the Marquis of Changning looked down at her, tossed the pastries aside in front of her, and handed her a sword.

“See? A woman should have the bearing of a heroine. Once you’ve mastered the sword, we’ll get married.”

Shen Que looked at the sword, which she couldn’t even lift, then turned and left.

The heir of the Marquis of Changning angrily sought out his good friend, who was sharpening a dagger. “A delicate young lady who can’t lift a thing or carry a load is completely unworthy of being my heir’s wife!”

His good friend tucked the dagger into his robes and chimed in. “Exactly! If she can’t even lift your sword, how could she be your wife?”

The heir of the Marquis of Changning was fully convinced, feeling he’d finally found a kindred spirit!

Who would have guessed that night...

His good friend knocked on the Chancellor’s mansion gate and presented Shen Que with a dagger, eyes shining. “If you won’t be the heir’s wife, how about becoming a general’s wife?”
