The Insect Race: A Male Insect's Survival Handbook

"The continuation of the species comes first. Reproduction is a responsibility male insects are born to fulfill, and high-ranking male insects should be all the more committed to it."

After the Insect Protection Association forced him into matchmaking for the eighth time, Su Lai chose to fight back. He and his female consort agreed that he would drink a gene-degrading potion and ruin his genetic rank, preventing the Association from making him take multiple female insects as partners.

At the time, Su Lai was deeply in love with his female consort, Yi Lan. He was so recklessly devoted that he was even willing to die for him.

But on the very night he made his choice, a divorce agreement was placed before him. Yi Lan left him and, in the blink of an eye, threw himself into the arms of the Empire's second prince.

Even now, Su Lai remembers how the second prince shattered his leg after the man he loved abandoned him, and how he fled aboard a train bound for his hometown.

But it was a death train. It exploded before reaching its destination.

All 120-plus insects aboard, including Su Lai, perished in the accident, reduced to cosmic dust.

Su Lai's life had come to an end.

--That was what the female insect who saved him told him.

Later, as videos of the new emperor of the planet Lesuoya played on the giant screens in cities across all 108 insect stars, the white-haired male insect gazed at his female consort beside him, his eyes tender as water.

A friend spoke with Yi Lan about it, finding it romantic yet sounding melancholy:

"Yi Lan, do you regret it?"

"...Yes. I regret it."

[Please Note:]

1. The protagonist is the pursuer, and there is no role reversal. Su Lai is the pursuer, and he grows over time. There will be a brief period early on when he is at a disadvantage, but it won't last long. The story mainly focuses on how he grows into a king later on. This is a feel-good power fantasy with a male protagonist.

2. There are slight harem-protagonist vibes, but he won't attract everyone for no reason. I'll do my best to write it well.

3. The love interest is not Yi Lan. Yi Lan will regret leaving and try to win him back, but will not become the love interest. The true love interest is someone else.

4. Anything could change before the story begins, especially character names.
