After Seeing the Attribute Panels of the Stars

Ying Qi is a talent manager with first-rate skills and rock-bottom luck. Every artist he takes on is either an academic fraud or a criminal. In three years on the job, he's seen five artists off, earning himself the nickname "Entertainment Industry Weedkiller."

Now his company has sent him a sixth.

Utterly exhausted, Ying Qi asks, "Is this rookie reliable?"

His boss grits his teeth. "A fresh face scouted by a talent agent. Doesn't smoke or drink, sleep around or gamble, has a college degree, and a spotless record... If you still can't make this one work, "

Ying Qi: "Then it's my fault."

·

The rookie is named Lu Huaichuan. He has a perfect face and brand-new acting skills, and can't even handle a role with a single line.

Even more exhausted, Ying Qi drowns his sorrows in alcohol. When he gets back, he finds that he can see a status panel above Lu Huaichuan, just like in a video game!

"Looks," "Acting," "EQ," "IQ"...

Each stat has a little "+" next to it.

Drunk, Ying Qi doesn't hesitate. He taps the plus sign next to "Acting"!

That night, Lu Huaichuan stays up all night, uncontrollably practicing his lines in front of a mirror. The next day, in front of the camera, it's as if an award-winning actor has possessed him. He delivers his line with heart-wrenching intensity, tears streaming down his face: "Don't leave me, "

His acting is so incredible it leaves the whole crew stunned!

Ying Qi, who thought his eyes were broken and was about to go to the hospital: !!!

This thing is actually real!

Ying Qi is thrilled. Ying Qi is delighted. Ying Qi swears he won't be an industry weedkiller this time.

·

He gets Lu Huaichuan a role as a genius and boosts his intelligence.

Lu Huaichuan goes home and burns the midnight oil, solving ten sets of advanced math problems.

He gets Lu Huaichuan on a variety show and boosts his EQ.

Lu Huaichuan goes home and studies through the night: The Art of Being Thick-Skinned, The Complete Guide to Emotional Intelligence, and Change the Way You Speak and Discover a World of Possibilities.

With all his stats maxed out, Lu Huaichuan is unstoppable in the entertainment industry.

Ying Qi becomes the hottest talent manager in the business, just as he'd hoped.

The day before Lu Huaichuan is set to accept his Best Actor award, Ying Qi is still studying the status panel:

"What should I boost today? Maybe his physique. When I felt Lu Huaichuan's abs last time, they seemed a little too skinny..."

Behind him, Lu Huaichuan grits his teeth. "I've got a ton of engagements today. I don't want to be grinding stats tonight, "

Ying Qi: "!!!"

Bonus scene:

When word gets out that Ying Qi has taken on another rookie, the whole internet is abuzz. Countless paparazzi stake out Lu Huaichuan around the clock, hoping to get the first scoop on his downfall.

After watching him for over a month, all they see Lu Huaichuan do is read or work through problem sets. On the rare occasion he does anything else, it's practicing his acting in front of a mirror.

The paparazzi are baffled. Their minds are reeling.

They suspect Lu Huaichuan is secretly studying for civil service and graduate school exams.

They go home in a daze and fall asleep, only for one of them to sit bolt upright in the middle of the night:

"Wait, does he have something wrong with him?!"
