I Became the Young Childhood Friend of a Brooding Villain

Synopsis:

Gu Yue is a lonely genius hidden from the light of day. His extraordinary talent earns him the jealousy of his stepmother. His father despises him for supposedly bringing misfortune to his family, and his silence makes others regard him as a freak to be avoided.

He has seen more than enough of life's cold indifference. Even when people shove him hard into a boulder, leaving a bloody gash on his forehead, he doesn't utter a sound. What he doesn't expect is for a little boy, even smaller than him, to come running over. The boy grabs a big broom and chases off all the bullies. He gets covered in dirt from fighting, yet his face still shines with a sweet smile. "Don't be afraid, big brother! I chased all the bad guys away!"

For the first time, Gu Yue meets someone who stands up for him. That small figure is like the warm winter sun, melting the ice in his heart.

Lin Ran is the reincarnation of a tabby cat. He loves the smell of catnip more than anything. One day, he spots some bullies picking on a fragrant patch of catnip.

Lin Ran, who absolutely adores catnip: "!!!!!!"

How dare you! Who said you could bully the catnip?

*

Everyone says Lin Ran is head over heels for Gu Yue. Wherever Gu Yue goes, Lin Ran follows, like a little tail that just won't quit.

Gu Yue thinks so too. One day, he accidentally sees Lin Ran clutching his jacket, kissing and rubbing his face against it. The corners of his lips lift. Lin Ran really is head over heels for me!

Gu Yue "reluctantly" returns Lin Ran's feelings, deliberately showing off his sharply defined six-pack in front of him. He thinks Lin Ran will be unable to resist throwing himself at him, but Lin Ran excitedly clutches his shirt and won't let go.

Gu Yue: "??????"

Only later does he find out that his laundry detergent contains catnip...
