Green-Skinned Li [Gb]

Huang Lili's father sponsored a group of students. One of them came to live with the family: tall and thin, with slightly lowered eyelids concealing a wintry sharpness.

The old butler smiled as he introduced the girl climbing over the wall to get home nearby. "That's our young miss."

From then on, Xie Chun only ever called her "young miss."

When stopping her from getting into fights, reminding her to turn in homework, or helping her with problems... he would always mechanically put "young miss" before everything. He showed little emotion, but the formality kept them at a distance.

Even when she went too far, Xie Chun would only push her away, his breath slightly uneven but restrained, and say, "The young miss should behave herself," while fastening the buttons at his collar.

As stiff as a piece of wood, Huang Lili was fed up with him, so she simply went abroad.

Later, her father fell on hard times, and Huang Lili had nowhere to turn. By then, Xie Chun was a leading figure in business, surrounded by admirers. This man knelt before her in front of the media, lowered his head, and wiped the mud from her shoes with his hand, murmuring to himself, "The young miss's shoes are dirty."

No one knew that on the night before Huang Lili left the country, Xie Chun had packed her luggage. The usually cold and reserved Xie Chun, whose eyes were always clear as snow, looked as though he were burning from within. He nearly choked up.

The inferiority rooted in his bones made him wipe the tears from her suitcase again and again, then send her off as if nothing had happened.
