Pray to Me, Not the Gods [Reborn]

Lin Yunhuai was once hailed as a prodigy, but in a single day he fell from grace.

His childhood sweetheart came to his aid, and after growing closer over time, they secretly pledged themselves to each other.

Lin Yunhuai gave everything he had, only to be betrayed. In the end, he was framed for the destruction of a family and lost both legs while everyone cursed and chased him.

Unwilling to endure the humiliation, he crawled along the ground, desperately evading his pursuers. Then Ji Xuansheng, a so-called charlatan exorcist, appeared.

Ji Xuansheng looked down at him. "It seems we're fated to meet. Why not become my disciple?"

Lin Yunhuai dragged his disabled legs along and looked into Ji Xuansheng's faintly amused eyes.

After a long while, he nodded.

Full of hatred, Lin Yunhuai used Ji Xuansheng to make a scene at court, hoping to clear his name, but it came to nothing. After falling into despair, he knelt before the statue of a god and refused to rise.

Ji Xuansheng smiled faintly. "Instead of praying to the gods, why don't you beg me more in bed?"

Lin Yunhuai gritted his teeth and said nothing.

From then on, everyone knew that the carefree Ji Xuansheng kept a crippled canary, treating him with the utmost tenderness. He never looked at anyone else again, yet he still never managed to win a proper title from him.

Until Ji Xuansheng died in a national crisis, leaving no body behind, only a military tally.

Later, Lin Yunhuai ruled the realm from his wheelchair as regent.

Lying in Ji Xuansheng's empty coffin, he would always remember the kiss Ji Xuansheng had given him before leaving without a word.

The stars shifted, and Lin Yunhuai returned to the age when everyone had doted on him.

Facing Ji Xuansheng, whom everyone mocked, he made a decision that shocked the world.
