Synopsis:
Su Tang is an utterly ordinary office worker trapped in the 996 grind of a big city. One day, at her best friend's emphatic recommendation, she picks up a historical yuri novel set in an alternate world. Its vicious villainess supposedly shares her name.
With mixed feelings, Su Tang starts reading. But before she has made it more than a few pages into the opening, or even figured out who the heroine is, she inexplicably transmigrates into a book and becomes the villainess with the same name. To make matters worse, she's bound to some brainless thing called the Reforming the Villainess System.
It demands that she max out the heroine's affection, turn over a new leaf, and become, uh...a model citizen of the old society, before she can go home. Otherwise, she'll drop dead on the spot.
To become a "model citizen of the old society" (crossed out: survive), Su Tang immediately decides to cling to the heroine, who has countless golden fingers in the story, and become her most loyal lackey.
With the conviction that "I'd pine for Big Sis, go crazy for Big Sis, and smash through walls for Big Sis," she throws herself into befriending her and raising her affection.
But there's one problem...
The stupid System disappears as soon as it gives her the task...
Who is the heroine...? She has no idea. How is she supposed to find her?!
(Table-flipping, losing-her-mind noises)
She has not a single clue. But who is Su Tang? A practically unkillable...uh, self-reliant woman of the new century. Thanks to all the books she'd read alongside her bookworm best friend, and the literary wisdom she'd absorbed by osmosis, she manages to make a genius deduction:
Heroines are usually beautiful. They're either aloof and cool or sweet and adorable, and they have plenty of lackeys, ahem, admirers. They're basically the center of everyone's attention.
Following that logic, Su Tang quickly sets her sights on the most famous, beautiful, and beloved person in the entire imperial capital: Ninth Princess Mo Qianyu. She decides to stick close to her, get friendly, and raise her affection so she can complete that darned reform mission and go home.
But...raising her affection proves exceptionally difficult. Sticking to the principle that you don't need many tricks as long as they work, Su Tang finally manages to get close to Mo Qianyu with her thick skin and an extra-oily supply of cheesy pickup lines.
Just as Su Tang has been following this plan through countless hardships and is finally about to max out Mo Qianyu's affection, that stupid System suddenly pops up to tell her:
The person she'd worked so hard to win over isn't the heroine at all. She's...the strongest, most scheming, most ruthless big bad in the whole book!!! /(T o T)/~~
