I Never Meant to Be the Demon King

Bai Rui believed he was an exceptionally kind and talented person, a master of pep talks who chased away the gloom in people's hearts, and a creator of fairy tales and dreams. Otherwise, he would never have been entrusted with the important task of transmigrating into the world of a book to keep its battered protagonist company.

That is, until one day, the protagonist, Eulises, who was supposed to turn dark after being abandoned by everyone, was awarded the "Heart of the People" medal.

He earned it for his outstanding contribution to capturing Bishop Bai Rui, "follower of the Evil God," "cardinal of the Resurrection Cult," "evil Shadow Demon King," and "shadow beneath the radiance of the Sun King." A half-demon, Eulises had become a renowned hero.

Bai Rui: ????

Eulises had once been a renowned Radiant Knight, the embodiment of virtue, and a loyal follower of the Sun King.

The higher his status, the harder he fell after his bloodline was exposed.

System: According to your instructions, you should love him, respect him, and stay by his side without ever abandoning him, so you can turn this repeatedly betrayed protagonist away from darkness.

Bai Rui: Understood. I will love him more than I love myself, respect him more than I respect myself, and become his most reliable ally and companion.

Later...

System: In that case, I think you should leave him and betray him.

Bai Rui: Why?!

System: If you don't leave him now, you'll get captured along with him.

Theme: Persevere through every setback
