The Movie Star's Haters Have It Rough

The moment the veil was lifted on the winner of the 20th Golden Phoenix Award for Best Actor, Lou Jia squeezed her eyes shut, unwilling to accept reality.

Lou Jia was a little-known actress, so her laid-back life in show business had been going swimmingly. But after a phone call from her mother, she had no choice but to get serious and pursue her career. Faced with the threat of being sent home to sell houses and get married if she didn't, Lou Jia promptly threw in the towel.

The first step toward building a career as an actress was joining a production. Even if she was only playing a prop for the male lead, how could that male lead be You Huaiyu?!

Lou Jia had been following You Huaiyu for two years. She was his fan, just not the kind who adored him. She was a hardcore anti-fan, more genuine than even his true fans.

Having to act alongside someone she hated, Lou Jia gave it her all, just so she could finish filming as quickly as possible and get away from the man who made her skin crawl...

After finishing her small role in a movie, Lou Jia joined another production. This time, she landed a better role: the third female lead, one of the male lead's many admirers.

But how could the male lead be You Huaiyu again?

Could a movie star at least act like one? Why come down from the big screen to star in a TV drama?

You Huaiyu, the first time he met Lou Jia: She wants to make a move on me.

You Huaiyu, the second time he met Lou Jia: She's about to make a move on me.

You Huaiyu, the third time he met Lou Jia: Why hasn't she made a move on me yet?

You Huaiyu, the nth time he met Lou Jia: If the mountain won't come to me, I'll go to the mountain. If she's not going to make a move, then I'll do it myself.

Just as Lou Jia was enjoying success in both her career and love life, her mother called again, telling her to meet the man she'd been promised to as a child. They'd met once when she was three.

Lou Jia kissed You Huaiyu on the cheek and coaxed him. "Don't worry, boyfriend. I'll go break off this suddenly resurfaced childhood engagement!"

When she met her childhood fiance, Lou Jia stood there in a daze. He walked slowly toward her and asked, "Sweetheart, are we still breaking off the engagement?"

Lou Jia snapped back to her senses, went up to her childhood fiance, You Huaiyu, and took his hand. "Why would we break it off? Let's get married! Right now!"
