Spending Big to Keep a Fish

[Synopsis]

[Cold to outsiders, possessive at home, fatherly top x Delicate, food-loving, playful, and silly mermaid bottom]

After being ambushed, interstellar prime minister Pei Cangming ends up stranded on an unknown planet.

Danger lurks everywhere, and starbeasts run rampant. Badly wounded, he plunges into the deep sea. He expects to die, but then a pair of sapphire-blue eyes suddenly appears before him.

"Hey, human, can you make grilled fish?"

That is the first thing Pei Cangming hears after waking up on the shore.

The boy before him has silver hair and blue eyes, with a human body and a fish's tail. He is clearly not human.

Feeling as if his entire worldview has been upended, Pei Cangming asks, "...Who are you?"

The little mermaid tilts his head. "I'm Yu Suisui. Can you make grilled fish or not? If you can't, I'll toss you to the bottom of the sea to feed the fish."

Pei Cangming, who has lived on nothing but nutrient solution for decades: (silent) (starts a fire) (begins grilling fish)

Then, beneath the little mermaid's expectant gaze, he hands over the first charred fish of his life.

Yu Suisui, unaware of how cruel people can be, eagerly takes it and bites down. The next moment, he spits it out and shouts:

"Human, how dare you try to poison a fish!"

The mermaid is deeply displeased by such a dismal attempt at cooking. But since Yu Suisui has found only one human on this planet, he decides to let Pei Cangming off and make him his personal chef instead.

And so interstellar prime minister Pei Cangming begins his life raising fish on a lonely planet.

He plans to just do the bare minimum for the greedy little fish, but Yu Suisui is not only a big eater, he's picky and spoiled, too.

"How can you feed a fish something that looks like mud from the bottom of the sea!" Yu Suisui angrily throws a piece of underwater trash, smashing the nutrient solution.

Pei Cangming, who drinks nutrient solution that tastes like mud from the bottom of the sea every day: "...I only drink it myself."

Then he turns around and starts researching how to dry little fish.

As the days pass, Pei Cangming becomes increasingly skilled at looking after his fish. From grilled fish to sashimi, and even combing the mermaid's hair, washing his face, and sewing his clothes, he can do just about everything.

After buying five hundred years of usage rights to the planet, Pei Cangming takes things even further, chasing Yu Suisui around every day.

"Don't run around the house barefoot!"

"Don't sneak drinks from the fridge!"

"Don't go sleep in the fish tank in the middle of the night!"

At the last remark, Yu Suisui sticks out his tongue. "Why not? I don't want to. Fish are supposed to sleep in water."

Pei Cangming scoops the fish into his arms. "Then tonight, I'll sleep in the water with you."

He grits his teeth and puts extra emphasis on the word "sleep."
