After Marrying a Widower

Liu Ningqing is a young widowed ger from Baiping Village. After his mother-in-law falls ill and dies, he is left alone to raise three children: his younger sister, who is only a few years old, and his nephew and niece.

Because he is so good-looking, he is often harassed. His late husband's relatives are also eyeing him greedily, scheming to sell him off and seize everything he owns. Life grows harder by the day.

The wife of a hunter who has always treated him well offers him some advice: "You really need someone in the house to be the man of the family. Didn't my husband bring home a refugee from the mountains the other day? He's penniless, sure, but he's got all his limbs, and he's handsome and strong..."

The auntie says the last part, "strong," with a suggestive smile.

When Liu Ningqing hears her teasing, he remembers seeing the man running around the house from a distance the other day. He lowers his head, blushing.

Xiao Chen has transmigrated, body and all. He stumbles out of the mountains like a refugee, then collapses before he even makes it down the mountain.

A few days after he wakes up, the hunter's wife who rescued him says she'll set him up with someone. He's told it's a widowed ger with three children.

Xiao Chen shakes his head like a rattle drum. In the few days since arriving, he has learned about the existence of gens in this world, and that part actually suits him just fine. But he's only twenty-one and doesn't want to get married! He has nothing against a widowed ger, but he's not interested in one either!

The auntie grows impatient and slaps her thigh. "Oh, come on! Just take a look!"

Without giving him a choice, she drags Xiao Chen over to meet Liu Ningqing.

And Xiao Chen is instantly smitten.

Transmigrated gong, "Bamboo stands tall in the mountain mist" x widowed ger, "Peach blossoms wear drops of dew"

Both gong and shou perspectives. Mutual pampering, farming, the imperial exams, making a life together, and governing the realm.
