Did President Gu Make the Fake Romance Real Today?

Gu Yiheng, CEO of the Gu Group, handed his new bride, Zhou Yumian, a marriage contract on their wedding night. He wanted her to pretend they were a loving couple, and promised to pay her a huge sum in compensation a year later.

"Zhou Yumian" accepted gladly.

Her real name was Cheng Yibei. Zhou Yumian had suddenly disappeared the day before the wedding, and the Zhou family had hurriedly found Cheng Yibei to take her place.

She signed the contract. She was acting out one role anyway, so why not play two? It was just another gig. Who ever complains about having too much money?

But six months later, Zhou Yumian was found, and Cheng Yibei's stint as her replacement came to an early end.

To her surprise, three days after Cheng Yibei left, Gu Yiheng showed up at her door.

Cheng Yibei explained earnestly, "Didn't the Zhou family tell you? I'm not really Zhou Yumian. Besides, we were pretending to be married from the start. It was all just an act."

Gu Yiheng's eyes were bloodshot. "At first, it really was just an act. But I couldn't stop myself from turning it into something real."

By the time he realized he was hopelessly in love with her, it no longer mattered who she was, whether she loved him, or whether any of it was real. He only wanted to be with her. That was all.

It wasn't that he had gotten too deep into character. Somehow, without either of them realizing it, their pretend relationship had become real.
