When the Reed Flowers Bloom

Lu Wei always knew she wasn't very clever.

She couldn't mingle with people as effortlessly as her junior sister.

She couldn't master everything, from alchemy and artifact-making to swordsmanship and magic, like her senior sister.

She was a little silly, a little slow, a little dull.

Her companion spirit was just an inconspicuous reed.

Her master once said, "Someone as foolish as you would be better off without the talent for cultivation. Living out a muddled life as an ordinary person might not be such a bad thing."

But she had cultivation talent, just not the very best kind.

She became a cultivator, yet still had the temperament of an ordinary person.

With that, her master gave her a simple assessment.

Just four words: "Not fit for much."

But Lu Wei thought: Since I'm not clever and can't do many things well, I'll focus on just one.

She didn't aspire to move mountains or calm the seas.

She would pour all her heart, sweat, and energy into nurturing one humble reed flower.

If she did that, surely the reed flower would bloom?

There are too many clever people who succeed. I want to stand up for the fools.
