On the first day of the college entrance exams, there were tests in Chinese and the humanities. On the second day, Japanese and a city walk: after leaving the humanities exam room, a classmate named He Shanyou, worried about math and English, transmigrated onto the streets of Beika Town.
He Shanyou: Oh no, does this count as moving to another province to take the college entrance exam? I'll lose my eligibility!
But before he could look around, a man in a black suit and sunglasses picked him up, tossed him onto the back seat of a car, and drove off. Only then did He Shanyou realize his body seemed to be that of a seven- or eight-year-old.
There was no time! Before anyone could mourn the student for even a second, the Black Organization arrived on the scene! His face twisted into a grief-stricken expression as he questioned reality, perfectly suiting the situation. The organization's members were pleased and announced two pieces of news:
First, his father, a core member of the organization, had died on a mission, and the organization would take him in and train him.
Second, the Black Organization also upheld the tradition of passing a father's position to his son, or a brother's to his younger brother. The organization had specially approved him to inherit his father's codename: Mabi.
He Shanyou: Can I get a different one? I really don't think "Your Mabi," "My Mabi," or "His Mabi" sound very polite.
Since he'd come, he might as well make the best of it. With no other choice, Mabi used his background as a humanities student and the advantage of being deep undercover to coast through work while diligently undermining the Black Organization.
Late one night, Gin called him. "Mabi, there's a rat in the organization."
Half-asleep Mabi: "For real?"
Gin hung up without mercy. "Beep, beep, beep."
Mabi: The organization really cares about everyone's daily lives. So I took the lead in setting up this "Second-Generation Organization Members' Discussion Group." After a period of preliminary observation, I've chosen you to be vice president. Now, Vice President, there's something I need you to do.
Akemi Miyano: What?
Mabi: Invite Chris Vineyard to join!
Akemi Miyano: Huh?
Meanwhile, using his knowledge of the plot, Mabi did his best to get closer to the side of justice. He seized an opportunity to audition as a house musician at a bar, playing Butterfly Lovers for the locals. The customers all said he was amazing, and he quickly became the bar's top Butterfly Lovers performer.
Then he struck up a conversation with an original-story character he'd finally managed to meet: "Hello. As a successful musician, how do you think a music lover can earn their first pot of gold as quickly as possible?"
Dai Moroboshi, aka Shuichi Akai: "Sell your instrument."
Mabi: "?"
From beginning to end, he studied hard and crammed like crazy for math and English, hoping that one day he could go back and take the college entrance exams.
A police officer clearing out an underground cell moved a damp, moldy mattress aside and bent down to stare at a tangled mass of blood-red threads. "What is this?"
At the same time, back in the college entrance exam room, He Shanyou tightened his grip on his mechanical pencil and carefully wrote the first character of his solution on the answer sheet.
