The year I died, the snow fell heavily.
In a daze, as I watched the candle wick, I seemed to dream two dreams.
The first dream was of returning to the years before I married him, when I loved him most.
Back then, I was a young lady from a distinguished family in the capital, and I was especially prone to encountering evil spirits. When I first met the young cultivator, he treated me poorly. But later, he carefully protected me, letting me venture out safely on spring nights and admire the glittering bustle of the mortal world by lamplight.
I wish the dream had ended there.
I thought that countless times.
Then I could forget the neglect I suffered after we married.
Even when I dragged my lingering illness to the flames where swords were forged, hoping he would call out to stop me: "Yaoyao, don't go any farther."
He would, wouldn't he?
But I leapt in, and never heard him say a word.
I died too soon to learn that the real young man had died the year I married. The man I married wasn't him at all.
All I remember is the candle weeping that day. I would never love him again.
The snow filling the room was the same snow I'd seen when I first met him.
After I died, the snow fell without end. A demon searched for me like a madman, and threw my husband into the Ten Thousand Demons Abyss, where he melted into blood.
The young man had returned, but everything had changed.
Sitting atop countless corpses, he held me and wept tears of blood.
He said, "Yaoyao, don't go any farther. Don't go any farther. If you cross the Bridge of Oblivion, you'll forget me."

The second dream was of the day I got married.
In a daze, I saw the wedding procession stretching for ten miles. My bridal sedan had passed by a young man's coffin.
At the time, funeral paper money filled the sky.
I understood nothing, and only felt sorry for the young man who had died in battle against the demons. He was so young, and all that remained was a page full of absurdity.
When I heard this tale of love and loss, I sighed along with everyone else.
By then, I had returned my tears to the mortal world and ascended to immortality in broad daylight.
#They say that afterward, the darkest demon in the mortal world held my bones and tried day and night to bring me back to life.#
