★★ A fierce hunter x a delicate, sickly beauty, with a major size difference (names slightly changed)
After a car accident kills nutritionist Qing Xia, he unexpectedly transmigrates into the body of a man from Lingshui Village who shares his name.
The man was born beautiful but mentally disabled. Once he came of age, his father arranged a marriage for him.
But the frail young man caught a cold on the bumpy journey, and his fever wouldn't go down. The people escorting the bride thought it was contagious, so they rolled him up in a ragged mat and dumped him by the roadside.
The little fool's life ended, and nutritionist Qing Xia took over his body.
Good news: He isn't dead, and someone rescued him.
Bad news: His rescuer is a hulking man, over eight feet tall, radiating menace. Backlit in the shabby, gloomy room, he looks like a beast about to swallow Qing Xia whole.
The man advances step by step. Qing Xia cowers in a corner, then shuts his eyes in despair when the man comes close, waiting for death to claim him.
But... what arrives isn't a cleaver. It's a soft blanket. The fearsome man drapes it over him. His voice is rough and gruff, but his words are gentle: “Your fever hasn't gone down. Drink your medicine.”
Later, Qing Xia discovers that although the man looks fierce, he's remarkably steady and reliable in everything he does.
The man is a hunter, with no parents and no money. The villagers see him as a fearsome bringer of bad luck. He owns nothing but a dilapidated thatched hut on the mountain, but he's strong, hardworking, and steady.
Though they haven't said it outright, the hunter truly treats Qing Xia, a sickly man, as his companion and looks after him.
Qing Xia resolves to work with the hunter to build a better life. He shares recipes for all kinds of delicious food: secret-recipe soy duck, sizzling plate duck, cold spicy rabbit, fiery roasted rabbit, and lotus-leaf chicken. With the mountains at their backs, they make a fortune, and the little shop they open in town is packed every day.
The two move out of the drafty thatched hut and into a spacious house in town. Qing Xia wants them to sleep in separate beds, but the man refuses. He gently clasps Qing Xia's delicate wrist, the calluses on his fingers rubbing against his skin. “This home is yours, and I'm yours too. You can't leave me.”
