[Making peace]: A treaty or ceasefire agreement concluded between two warring sides.
A black-lotus hostage princess who has forgotten her past * a stubborn but soft-hearted, laid-back prince
Ever since Fu Shu can remember, she has lived with her wet nurse in Hongcheng, a desolate city of ruins. Then a great army arrives and mistakes her for the general's legitimate daughter.
Only then does Fu Shu learn that during the Battle of Hongcheng fifteen years ago, one of the enemy's conditions for making peace was that the general's daughter remain behind as a hostage in this wasteland of a city.
But in Fu Shu's memories, the hostage girl had died long ago.
Daring not to say a word, Fu Shu makes her way to the imperial capital, where she is granted a noble title and rewarded as the legitimate daughter. She enters the Imperial College to study, and is surrounded by all manner of luxurious finery, an astonishing sight indeed.
Fu Shu has no desire to make a fuss. She only wants a chance to escape, but things seem increasingly strange:
How strange. Why does Madam Li look at me with more and more affection?
How strange. Why do I suddenly have a younger brother following me around everywhere?
How strange. Why is someone helping to hide my identity even after discovering it?
After a spell in the lap of luxury, she enjoys half a month of carefree living and prepares to sneak away. After all, being exposed would cost her life.
She escapes to a country inn, but Hong Huiwan, the second prince and the person she gets along with least at the palace, suddenly appears. Leaning against the doorframe, he asks lazily,
"Little Fu Shu, trying to run away?"
"You people dragged me here against my will in the first place!"
Fu Shu knows she's in the wrong, but still drops her bundle in a fit of pique. "Go ahead and take me back! I give up..."
"I'm not here to drag you back. I'm here to join you."
Hong Huiwan's eyes brim with amusement. He sees right through her. "Take me with you to see Hongcheng."
Later, Li Fushu suddenly realizes:
Wait, why can't I get rid of Hong Huiwan?
